Gold selling... Cutting out the middle man

So I was wondering if anyone has advice as to whether selling to individual players and cutting out the 'middle man' so to speek is a good idea or how to go about it? I usually sell to the middle man, but recently prices seem to have got pretty bad...

My questions are :

  • How would you recommend selling to a player, rather than a site?
  • Are there any sites which allow you to sell to players (i.e i have tried mmobay)
I relise there are a fair few posts on selling gold, but I haven't really come accross one which specifically deals with the issue of whether selling 1 on 1 is safe or how to go about it. There is probably a thread somewhere and no doubt i've missed it ^^ .

Hope this can be helpful for many people, my self included :D

use moneybookers if you do sell
 
Get in a guild, raid with them, go on their Teamspeak, become one of them, bring the topics softly over MSN or TS. Gz you are now selling gold for some real cash!

Sounds like a bit of a tactic indeed ;D. Is moneybookers safer to use then I take it?

Yeah with paypal users can generally do chargebacks and claim they didn't receive the product. Since gold is merely virtual currency in an online game, you cannot provide paypal with proof of delivery and they will therefore side with the buyer and refund them.

Moneybookers as far as I know doesn't resolve disputes in the same way, and is much safer to use. There are certain methods you can implement with paypal to lower the risk, but it's still generally a bad idea to sell gold via paypal to people who are not trusted.
 
I'm starting on a new server where a good buddy is offering to buy from me (played at least 5 mmo's with him), what I'm wondering is how I transfer it to him without him getting banned? I assume he'll be a regular customer, possibly weekly, if not his friends too so I assume I'd still be unloading via vanilla account but I'd be wondering about the safety of their accounts..
 
We should get a gold selling forum here id love to buy off some of the trusted guys here...

generally if they are on this forum they bot for gold which defeats the purpose of having to buy gold O.o
 
god i hate the chinese companies. but i am forced to sell to them since i dont have any private buyers. chinese ... hate them

I have tried it. It has worked, but, I'd suggest being careful and using a classic account. You just have to make sure you get across that as a private seller you're much safer, because, obviously, you don't want to have to charge lower than the Chinese websites just to get a private seller xD. It got me a buyer every time I needed one anyway, but you have to known your server well, sitting around for 24 hours looking out for gold buyers kinda fails :p.
 
That sounds like a good tactic, may try that indeed! Yeh the chinese price per k sucks on EU... getting offered around 0.3/0.4 on some servers :/ and stuck with like 150k which i refuse to sell at that low xD
 
This is why I love to have private buyers with cash up their asses which they spill for my gold. :)
