Glider ruling

I'm not sure if I want glider back. The game would be overrun by bots and gold prices would crumble.

I never used Glider but doesn't it use waypoints? Didn't it seem botlike?

Well if you used Ppather no waypoints was required and Glider was using mouse style to look around and moves... HB still use Click-To-Move, who I think look very botlike...

Has people even thought what the impact would be like in Glider is allowed to re-sell?? it would destroy Blizz's multi-million pound earner and soo many people would leave the game since it would be full of botter's, Also even if Glider was to come back it would need a complete re-write and massive update, the only thing Glider has these day's is there reputation and hope that they can re-sell once again which wont happen.

Juju comes out with a new bot every 2 weeks, what makes you think Merc couldn't resurrect Glider and sit on top of the "passive bot" market once again? People would come back to Glider if it came back, especially all those folks that jumped on OmegaBot instead of Honorbuddy.

You said it yourself, it's their reputation that would get them initial interest.

...Because Honorbuddy and Gatherbuddy are so difficult to obtain. /sarcasm

Fact is, the amount of botters wouldn't increase, just many people would switch to using a different bot. Loyalists would switch just because the name and man behind the product. Maybe some shuffling of the user base, but no, I don't agree with you at all that it would create more botters just because of the ruling. I do think new bots would hit the market...bots offered from within the USA.

who's to say Glider hasn't been updated for personal use among the Glider dev.s or that they aren't working on a new version for if/when they're able to start selling their product again? they were very successful in selling their bot so I see no reason they wouldn't come back to sell it again. If they do plan to start selling again, I don't see why they'd wait until they're officially allowed to sell in order to start upgrading the bot to be compatible with the current version of the game.

also:

Hamut doesn't own Glider, MDY Industries (And by extension, Mercury) does. This ruling was actually an enormous win for them. He's essentially off the hook for the $6.5 million in damages and there's a good chance Glider is coming back. However, the case has to go to the Supreme Court since the 9th circuit's ruling contradicts previous appeals rulings. Hopefully we'll have Glider while we're there though.
wow, this case has gone all the way up to the supreme court o.O ? go glider!!

No, not really.

People that say shit like this have no idea what they're talking about. Glider was 2 years old, and it still runs smoother then my HB Grind Feature. Back then there wasnt an OPTION to queue up for PvP just by clicking "H". You had to go to a battlemaster in a city, so no mixed mode. PPather worked with Glider Elite, which is only below HB's questing by a bit. Also, Glider was cheaper, had more support, and a general better community. Just look at the glider forums, still. Alive & still active after the bots dead for a year and a half or more- they CLEARLY made SOME dedicated buyers. I remember waking up EVERY morning to a Glider bot STILL running, haven't had HB do this without A relogger.

Glider was certainly the best bot ever developed at its time, and had they been allowed to stay up, they would most likely be far better than HB/GB.
Now, though, I believe it would require a complete re-write of the entire Glider bot and I don't think they'd be able to keep up with HB/GB...
Sucks, though - still got a Glider Elite pass just waiting to be used again :)

innerspace/OB > glider at the time.

OB? Open Bot? Open bot nearly went out of business, thanks to glider >.<

OB was always free, you need a sub to innerspace so that you could use OB. and it was only shut do to the public once glider got sued.

I used to openbot before glider, then I got hit with that damn banwave when they put in the epic resilience medallion of the horde :< I was set to get all my bots season 3 gladiators too haha, survived the win trading scandal, but banned from openbot. I liked openbot a lot, but glider was good too.

i only started botting recently, tbh i haven't tried glider before. As for the lawsuit i hope that the authors can get out of it asap. About ressing glider, i think that can wait lol.
& i consider hb/gb as a very good bot. even if glider is resurrected, i think there will be parts that hb/gb does well if not better than glider. And some other parts which glider might do better.

hb/gb has helped many botters through this year isn't it.

If Glider comes back Blizzard will again start to hunt Bots HARD via Warden i really like it how smooth it is today with Glider down.

You still had to have waypoints/hotspots in PPather profiles. Glider supported flightpaths to move .HB refuses to add this it seems. Also the info about Glider bugs was awesome while HB totally lacks this as we must provide logs to the devs as soon as it's broken
