Garrisons, Everything is about money now?

Holy shit storm.

It wasn't that big a deal just an observation.
Just seems like everything on the internet is turning into micro transactions.

No need to blow a gasket, people who wanna buy will those who don't will not.
Every time someone makes the slightest hint towards paying for the buddystore or not, everyone hops on the TnT-Train to Dynamite town.

My Two Cents Worth Is Greed!!! That's What Is Wrong With Society Now A Days, Especially America! Roger Out...

I do coding for a living, I will gladly pay devs for their hard work. I could write profiles myself and spend time debugging/coding, but I'm far happier paying a bit of $$$ and not having to do that. If you don't want to pony up for a profile or sub then build one yourself and release it for free. I promise you after a month you'll either be addicted or disgusted at the though of writing and supporting a bot for a game lol.

Wow that is disgusting. I knew they took a cut but that much?
amazon 16%, ebay hood -> all the same
if you sell a good that requieres materials it makes the cut even smaller
+it won´t be checked / distributed fully automatical

and afaik the developer can choose, and keep it the old way

Best thing is, when Honorbuddy first started out (Back when it was GB only) whole thing was meant to be kept open source (Excluding the bot itself) when it came to plugins/profies/CR's.

But then the fire nation attacked.... erm I mean some coders started selling profiles outside of this forum. It was only logical for bossland to create the in-bot store so there can exist quality control and some buyer protection should the profile maker stops supporting his/her profiles out of the blue.

Wow that is disgusting. I knew they took a cut but that much?
So when Blizzard invented RealMoneyAuctionHouse in Diablo 3, they took 2x15% taxes for cashout too, and I seen noone argue with that!

But when Bossland GmbHh do ask for similar tax to maintain, provide 7day money-back guarantee, and tons of other features for your purchase, including the 18months of updates, you start the whine song! Do not forget, in these 30% they do include the government taxes in Eu, which, as most of you are already aware, are very high too! Corporate tax, VAT etc...

I also want to touch on the fact that it costs the Dev's too. Bossland takes 30%, Gov Takes 30%, Paypal takes 5% and I am left with 35% of a 1 time fee no chance at subs.
Plus, every Develeper, who actually respect his own work and time, should take at least a basic class in business administration, even self-learning one!

Because no matter howmuch time he invest in his development work, or how good his product is, he must learn how to deal with his own money. The casual business model of Employer and Employee is not acceptable here, so this could optimize their money flow dramatically!

Letting Gov+PP took 40% off your money means, you have huge flaws in your business model, Phelon! No matter what country you work in.

pay to lagged botbases? Funny. Your store kill hb.

You've done 4 posts in >3 years. Non of them was a valid support request with a logfile attached so stop complaining.
If things are not working, read how the dev wants to get it reported, do so and wait for a fix but stop trolling or even
bullshit talking like "the store killed hb". Can't read that stupid stuff anymore based on lies, missing knowledge and the unrealistic expectation that everything on the web needs to be free.

You dont want buy? Dont buy...
Do your own profile, plugin, botbase if you want but dont complain about it on the forum if something is paid. The dev deserve be paid for the hard work.
Tryed learn coding and... i figured, i dont have time anymore, better pay or donate for the experts.

Time is money.

Sorry about my bad english.

And here we go again with one of these threads.
Ok, I want to give you my view on this.
I wanted to give all my work to the community for free, I was hoping that users that found my products fun and usefull was going to donate abit for it but alas I was wrong.
I think I got 2 random donates from all my free work rest was requests where a user asked me to code a specific thing for them and they payed me for it.

Now lets take ObjectGatherer as an example, that used to be a free product, now when I'm recoding it, the GUI alone took me over 2 months of my spare time to code. I've managed to get DataGridView to display information it was not designed to do, then with all the bugs that gets fixed and all the requests that gets added, don't you think I deserve to get paid for the work I do ?
If you don't, then I sugest you take a crash course in C# then learn the honorbuddy API, then learn how to code plugins and botbases and then spend months on coding your program and then finaly after a few years I want you to release said program for free here on the forum and see how you feel about it when random user X complains that thing Y isn't working, your program sucks because Y isn't working, etc etc.

This, no more to say. Well done.

I am sorry i am not cheap i own 5 HB life time keys and have paid for at least 4 Buddystore profiles! I have not heard one reason why a starting out programmer who does not release a perfect product but more a hobby cart should be payed we live in a world where you pay for quality and items that work, not something that a person trys to achieve! I am a mature player that has money to throw around that why i run 10 wow accounts and don't sell gold but do it for fun! There are 5 items in Buddystore that's worth the money, and i have payed for them happily others don't belong there and the quality sucks, and just because a few fan boys are in this forums defending the creators does not mean its perfect and we are just complaining for the sake of it! I love this Bot and the community allot of people give there free time to help and create amazing profiles and routines, one example is Kevin or Mr Botanica who we lost recently to an illness, his work was out of this world quality and feedback wise! I will not speak about this again because i see people are getting upset instead of having an iteligent conversation!

Quote, quote, and quote.

...says the one using a *****ed HB version 2014-11-09 09.24 ^^ Funny!

Ok here is the point folks. This topic is coming up from time to time. People complain about the need to pay for stuff now in the store while in the past most things were for free.
They are wrong. I see tons of profiles and stuff still being released for free and most of the bigger products were paid products even before the store but spread all over the net on the devs own webpages.
The store is as addon meaning you CAN buy stuff there but no one forces you to do so. It guarantees updates and checked quality products.
Please also do not forget that small projects started by a dev became a huge support issue after growing for months so it is totally ok if the dev now wants to have something for it.
In the past a lot of devs did this asking for donations but the amount of people who donated was really really low so the actual situation is also some kind of reaction of the behaviour of the community.
Personally I do not have any problems paying for a product on the store if it is good and saves me time.
If you don't want, don't buy anything, otherwise have fun with the store but please stop whining.

@wtfmofo: If things are broken, report them in the support section with a logfile attached and they will be fixed!

I have 21 legit DB keys and a few legit HB keys. I think ive more than supported this forum over the years dont you?

Also the last time I tried to post a log I was basically told to get fucked because my log was from a non legit key.

Thats the problem with people. They do not randomly donate to devs. I just recently sent a donate to Echo for his awesome work and plan to continue to send him money. His work makes me money. Anyone that makes something I use on a regular basis gets at least $5-$10. Problem is I wonder how long people will continue to offer stuff for donates because we know people just refuse to pay others for their hard work. Without community dev's HB is almost worthless. I cant say ive used your stuff, AknA but I hear your stuff is amazing. Thank you for your hard work. If I use your stuff in the future you will see some $$$ out of me.

Well this got heated so I decided to offer my two cents and my very own personal opinion (To which I am perfectly entitled, so before anybody starts flaming please agree to disagree)
I love analogies and therefore I am going to use the best one I can think of to express my views regarding the Buddystore.
You try to buy a new car, it comes with an engine, a chasis and a place where you can sit. That is what is promised; now we all know that there are extras available to your car, you want to upgrade the stereo, you pay for it, you want alloys, you pay for them, you want leather seats, you pay for them.
I have been a long time user of this program and after a year off I decided to come back, The main reasons I used the bot is to take care of the boring tasks, make gold for personal use and lately deal with my combat routine.
When I first bought the bot there were not so many "accesories" available. The bot was advertised as a means to level toons and get some pvp gear, and maybe gatherbuddy and that was just about it. The first product out of HB that I used was Autoangler, here is a bot that does all the fishing for you and yes it was free. After this I started to see many people making contributions, heck I even made an attempt at some point in the past to try and show people how to create a grinding profiles (I have zero coding skills, however I do have a brain and have managed to use some of the great knowledge of some of the developers on this site). I have always made my own grinding and gathering profiles and even then I knew that to create a good profile it takes a lot of your time. Also very soon I discovered how people love things for free, however they are very quick to critisize that free work but very slow to contribute and donate to those who help out.
I have bought several of the products advertised in the store and I have absolutely no complaints, they have all been of excellent quality, with great service and for things that I feel are done better than the standard package that comes with HB.
Now, people talk about having to paid for routines, well , singular if I understand correctly is done nowadays by Bobby53, who was the creator of the original shaman rotation for HB and a creator of the Hyjal profile back in Cata which was absolutely flawless. I have leveled maybe 20-30 toons all using singular and without any problems. But now that I want to raid I used some of the paid profiles. Does this mean singular is useless, no, absolutely not. If you look at the adjustability that you have with some of the paid routines is simply incredible.
I would also like to point out that there are still plenty of profiles, bots, plugins and different contributions that people are still making completely free, and that is their decision to do so.
So just to finish off my view is, if you want the standard model that will take you from A to B, HB will do that, in fact the bot nowadays is as stable as is ever been. But on the other hand if you want the alloy rims, leather seats, upgraded stereo, customer service and ease of use I am afraid just like in the real world you have to pay for it.
I personally find the buddy store the best thing to happen to HB in all its history (since I've been here I mean), in all honesty for $39 dollars I payed for the bot , or whatever it was for a lifetime I felt it was a steal so I am very glad that the creators of HB, and all the comunity developers are seeing some financial benefits for their efforts.

My two cents

But then the fire nation attacked....

LOL, haven't seen that meme in a while, well done.

erm I mean some coders started selling profiles outside of this forum. It was only logical for bossland to create the in-bot store so there can exist quality control and some buyer protection should the profile maker stops supporting his/her profiles out of the blue.

Except that the project / store kind of has its own rules. The rules also appear to be politically based on "what we say goes" rather than logic, but I'm just a late, passive observer. If these rules were based from a committee or vote system, it seems to be that a few intersecting ideas of how to create a store were omitted.

It seems that it was a deliberate choice not to include customer ratings in the store. Which seems odd, when there's a broad selection of app stores, from Amazon, Apple, google, Microsoft, with customer ratings as a central tenet below the marketing information, price, and a screenshot of the app (which often isn't a screenshot). It can be limited to purchasees so there's less spam, and should allow the developer to respond to the feedback via the frontend to the store. It's going to radically remove a lot of ambiguity about the store when you see that others have bought the item.

Slow updates, idk. It's lousy when you can't revert builds, or get refunds, or provide public feedback on products that don't work as advertised. It's also an ongoing question with pricing and comparing similar or identical products with no customer feedback on the store to differentiate between the apps in the same category.

QA is a good reason to compile the code locally and host the files so that users don't have to maintain file versions. But it also doesn't require paid store items, and it could eventually integrate all kinds of developers.

I have also noticed, roughly every 2 weeks, maybe less frequently, another thread starts up about the store. Which to me seems to indicate an ongoing incongruity with the store and the community. Mostly pricing, but it's also going to resonate on other issues.

If the community support team want to address this, I'd imagine the store needs some better community marketing. The process is definitely not transparent to the customers or users, and apparently also the developers who are signed up to the process. Idk. If it's February and I see another store thread... :.)

Reading the thread, I'd also like to have the development community provide more support for new / starting devs with code examples of particular advanced features that used to be part of HB source code. Doesn't have to be SVN access, but giving other devs a few guides, discussion, or their own tools to assist new programmers to avoid common mistakes or do things better is generally a good idea.

Perhaps some new years resolutions should be amended.

I haven't used the bot in a long while, is everything pay to play now ?

Is there a garrison bot out there that doesn't cost money?

What happened here?

Pretty much... no such thing as community anymore.

More so thanks to iTunes, Google, and Microsoft, even so, the next few generations will be receiving a healthy wake up call. Technically not so healthy, but whatever.

this has blown way out of proportion here stop fighting ladies and just give the guy a straight answer. ill give it a go first.

go here https://github.com/Deams51/GarrisonBuddyBeta and click the "download zip" button on the bottom left. and unzip it and put it in ur bot folder.

as for paid products. yea you get what you paid for. you want good bots, routines, grind, gather profiles you will need to pay. if paying is not an option for you or some others that cant afford it you can always look for free ones which are still just as good and get the job done or you can make your own like me. i have been reading and studying on coding for HB and been making my own grind, gather, and even started making questing ones even though most of those are free from kicks profile pack, but its all practice. as for making the plugins and bot bases with GUI i have not yet touched that so that will be an interesting journey. dont get me wrong writing profiles is no easy thing if you have no exp with it in the past, i do have exp in C++ and java and also that shity visual basics so its kind of familure to me how the stuff works.

if you have always wanted a thick full beard. read all the files in the questbehaviors in HB along with https://www.thebuddyforum.com/honorbuddy-forum/community-developer-forum/. my 5oclock shadow had turned into a 4 week bush

edit: then there are profiles like this that make you think if it is rly important to sped that much money :/ Buddy Store
