What do you guys think? I think flash fire wins certainly in T10, but how about GR's?

I have done a couple Flash Fire, and DMO builds on a couple of accounts.

No Wizard build IMO compares to the T10 clearing speed of Flash Fire in normal rifts. It just gives you the speed that you need and over the TOP DPS for T10. It can be a little squishy depending on your gearing.

However, you will quickly hit a wall in both survivability and overall DPS in higher GRifts... Once things aren't blowing apart as soon as you get within Explosive Blast range, and you actually start taking damage from higher GRift mobs...You will see the problem. I will point out that it's a great way to speed clear low GRifts to get the base levels of your legendary gems filled.

If you are solo botting a wizard and want to get high GRifts, DMO Arcane Orb is the way to go. I have done many experiments, including side by side testing builds on multiple bots against other DMO builds. It's just the best overall for botting GRifts.

In terms of speedruns on T10 rifts, you can change out gems, skills and cube items to jack up movement speed and cooldown reduction on an Arcane Orb DMO wizard and get some good clear times. A big limitation compared to flash fire is the smaller AOE distance, and the internal cooldown on arcane orb explosions. If you can only gear one build for both Speed Runs and GRifts, Arcane orb can work, but Flash Fire is just so much more melty goodness for T10.

Last but certainly not least is the Energy Twister DMO Wizard. ET DMO is best for group play.. but only if you have globe support characters in the group. This is due to the synergy of an ET Wizard and health globes dropping all over the screen. Everytime a globe is picked up, you get a free cast of Energy Twister. I have seen people pull off one ET + one globe support, but you need to watch your gearing on the Wizard to make sure you're not running out of mana. ET is NOT suitable for solo botting when compared to Arcane Orb DMO. The twisters are just too unpredictable and the DPS is too unpredictable. I also find that the bot dies more when playing ET.

All of that said, these are just my opinions. I have used wizards on 3 accounts, and done many tests.

If you are going to multibot, my best group was ET Wizard + Globe Monk + Globe Barb + LoN Crusader. ET Wizard + ET + Globe Monk + Globe Barb performed okay but not quite as well as the first group. These performed much better than any permutation with an Arcane Orb Wizard. Using Arcane Orb + Arcane Orb + ZDPS Monk + LoN Crusader was much slower. ET + Arcane Orb + Globe Support + Globe Support was in the middle but I seemed to drag a lot more on tough enemies.

I am currently in the process of finishing gearing 4 LoN Crusaders to see how they compare when multibotting. So far with sub-optimal gearing, it's pretty consistent with the ET + Monk + Barb + Sader.

Hope that helps, just my personal experience.

AT/ET build is much better for speed grifts up to 75 than DMO. I can clear 75 in 7-9 mins with it compared to DMO Orb ~12mins. Past 75 DMO is better due to being able to facetank everything.

Flashfire is solid for me until GR 63, doing runs in about 4 mins, and agree with you that it's by far the fastest for t10.

Wow, thanks for the detailed and prompt response. Much appreciated.

So Flash Fire will be effective I assume around grift 50-60 if you're well geared? and DMO Orb 70-80? Depending on the gearing as well? (Solo botting of course)

Maybe, you could also perhaps share why I'm only able to clear rifts 50-55, without dying and only managing 30-40 bil/exp per hr. I feel like my settings could also be a factor, although I've tried troubleshooting and have copied many of peoples DMO orb trinity settings.

Thanks again!

From what i see :
Gears :
- as on amulet is not useful for dmo try to get 10% crit
- blizzard on chest has no utility try to get a defensive stat
- 6% critical on bracers
- vitality on pants
- as on weapon is useless stat for dmo

Build :

- ice barrier / crystallize instead of energy armor for a better synergy with ancient parthan defenders
- teleport with safe passage rune
- unstable anomaly instead of unwavering will

post your trinity settings too it will help people to guide you

If you use Energy Armor / Force armor, you have to drop the bracers and get Ashnagarr's Blood Bracers and change ring in cube to either
unity/Coe, (if ur fine on surviability cubing coe and using a nice SoJ isnt terrible but i think unity/coe combo is better)

Halo is strickly for ice armor, so ur essentially losing out a complete cube spot.

Version is right .

I used to farm 75 without problem with the standard build i told you
reached 78 too

you should remove all avoidance stuff on your settings , just keep attacking mobs in aoe and attack mob when blocked

untick ignore minions too

trash pack cluster radius 40

not sure for the trash mob pack number

I'm back on the flash fire build for bot farming, but I'm currently at like 50-55 grifts comfortably, would like to get higher. I'll keep the arcane orb build for my actually play time as it's capable of much higher but needs to be actually operated.

Thanks for the response and help.

Wow 75? If I could even do 65-70 that'd be awesome. I can only do like 50-55 comfortably without saying excessively.

I find if I turn down my avoidances my character just stands in shit and dies all the time. Are you sure I should turn them off?

my d3 planner is linked above when the website is up, so you can perhaps theorize other than my trinity settings as to why I'm not that successful.

Mentioned some in my previous post :

- as on amulet is not useful for dmo try to get 10% crit

then everything ancient and augmented 55 will help too
