I think someone did this, at least for the lost proto drake

There's a great addon called "npc_scan"

It alerts you to when theres a rare creature around, you only have to target it and kill it - easy peasy

Other than that, get the npc_scan map overlay, create a route within the areas it tells you a rare spawns and hopefully you'll get lucky
