Don't expect ban-waves, yet.

Hello dear members.

As you can see at Employment Opportunities | Niantic (archive here Employment Opportunities | Niantic) , there is one particularly interesting job offer, "Machine Learning Engineer", comparing it's requirements and for how long they've been looking for a person for this position (starting at somewhere from April/May 2016) I think that ban-wave is not coming yet.

PS: It's just my opinion and it could obviously be wrong, but we shall see.

First, this position could do a lot of things. Machine learning is programs that simply learn, using TensorFlow or other languages. Sure it could altogether STOP bots. But to think it would be used for just ban waves? Maybe, but less likely. However, given they were looking for such a person, have not filled it. The can easily start banning based on scrubbing data. This may or may not be what's happening. Everything is speculative.

What I am confounded by is, why you would think machine learning code would start banning people rather than preventing botting.

As I see by description, there is a lot from the data analysis field, so it could be to automate the cheater detection.

Yes, bans are being given, I'm talking about automated mass bans.
