Hey guys, i am wondering how safe it is to leave the bot on non stop currently..
If the danger is other player ban reports, i am not too worried..but is there some other danger, such as your account getting flagged if it is running for too long ? If you relog your account/battle.net now and then, would that reset said risk ? I have a lot of levelling to do so i am trying to minimise the time as much as possible.I Watch the bot for the time i am at the pc but i'd like to keep it running with questing bot and kick's profile while i am not at the pc to minimise the time..seems fairly safe as the bot does stop and logs out when it bugs out, which won't get me reported, plus there's not a lot of players out in the world atm..my only real concern is as i said the blizzard thing, if it exists..i am not as familiar with these things as some of you guys, so maybe i could get the benefit of your expertise..thank you.
Hi,
Sorry you're receiving so many harsh responses. The forums feel somewhat salty since the recent banwaves, and that is a shame, but also a reflection of HonorBuddy's present state [to casual users] I am sorry to say.
The recent suspension waves should be a very real caution to you. You sound like you care about your account. You'll most likely be given a 6 month suspension should you be caught.
Most reasons you will be suspended are likely to player reports. The levelling profiles will often get stuck, and in most cases unstuck themselves but in those cases the bot does not look natural.
Tips for leveling TLDR:
- Go into Settings and select your ground mount of choice. A small mount works best -Mammoths etc can get stuck in certain places.
- Addons > MrItemRemover2 (or TidyBags 3.0) -this will vendor most junk and keep your bot leveling quicker.
- Give your bot bag space, equip with at least Netherweave Bags.
- Supervise your leveling at least 90%. The first levels are fairly safe, and much work has been done to ensure a fluid experience but there are still lots of stucks and environmental quirks than get you spotted as a bot. Supervise! Supervise! Supervise!
- Some people suggest 'only play as many hours as a human would', while correct this is fairly open to interpretation. Just use your common sense. Ultimately it comes down (in most cases) to player reports -and you are less likely to be reported if you are supervising things.
- Level solo! Do not level as part of a Guild. It can look very suspicious if you never respond to Guild chat. Maybe a Guildie gets suspicious or just wants to be social and level with you, so they zone to you and now they can see you running paths as well as not replying. Easy to be caught out! So make your own Guild (buy the charters, ask friends or beg) and level solo in your own Guild!!!
- Having your own Guild Bank is also an early priority. Should you be Suspended your gold will most likely be wiped from all chars. However golds in your Guild Bank(s) should be safe. So create a Guild Bank, and also create Alts on seperate licenses (WOW Battle Chest is cheap!) and give them Guild Bank permissions. Leave your Guild Bank alts to gather dust (they don't need a sub), they only exist should you need them in case your Main is suspended.
Somethings you suggested that would infer human interaction:
- Relogging Bnet... no offence, but just no.
- Taking breaks... well some ppl play for 16+ hrs straight.
What you can do to infer human interaction (when botting):
> Stop the bot.
> Close Honorbuddy.exe
> Play by hand.
>
That. is. it.
Somethings you may not be aware of:
+
Lowest Common Prefix (
link) a common practise amongst MMOs to predict repetitive paths (likelyhood of bots).
+ HonorBuddy does have a
TripWire security, which will trigger should the product be compromised by WoW/Blizzard. Bottom line is, TripWire will disconnect and disable HonorBuddy for your own good if it needs to; this happened last in late January. Some ppl think this is a precursor to a future Suspension Wave. Personally I don't think the two are exclusive to each other -rather I believe they are in addition to each other.
+
There is no way of resetting risk. Just drop that line of enquiry. If there were then we'd all be botting and we'd all be happy.
+ Changing the name of the executable... is a waste of time. Some people will give you better explanations but ultimately it's futile. Blizz can scan your memory and CPU, that we know. So don't take a false sense of security from renaming HonorBuddy.exe to Caclulator.exe etc. It won't help.
***
It seems that HonorBuddy is less and less safe, as indicated by the successive Suspension Waves, Blizzard's open disclosure about dealing with bots, and the recent Tripwire. All of this amounts to a perfectly safe working space for professional botters, or those wanting to make lots of gold via suicide practices. But for the casual, individual user like yourself it is a dangerous field to be and leveling requires supervision so above all make sure you can do so.
Best of luck.
