Does it work well at all? Sick of Windows 7 and don't want to use 8.

I use Ubuntu with VMvare for botting.I think it's better choise than run db through wine.

if it works for you then great, but we will not support it since it needs the full .net suite and relies on a REAL version of windows for things like direct x.

Could not get Diablo III to install on Wine. I wasn't using a full Diablo III image though, only the download and didn't get far at all. Ubuntu with VMware is a good idea.

I install all the resources through Wine so that could be the issue. I do believe using VMware and installing dependencies is a much smoother route since the client and bot will be run in a much closer to native environment.

if it works then great, but even with VMware we're limited, ideally if you can run it on a dedicated machine you should.

I went back to Windows 7 to keep things simple. You're right especially in the gaming department, a lot of 3D applications just don't handle Wine well, if at all. Even a VM on Ubuntu can be rocky, DirectX being the main concern.
