Which character in seasons has easier farming + paragon lvling with db atm? Mostly for grift runs

kinda wondering myself, was just about to look or make similar thread. I currently have been botting a 6pc wastes BK weapons WW barb, but the bot doesn't seem up to date enough to support hota builds properly or anything guess 2.3 hit it hard and itll need some tweaks for a while til it can run flawless with certain builds again.

How do monks fair botting? can they bot high grifts etc? I can't bot using hota barb, so hes stuck at like grift 50-55s with basic weapons(non ancient, non gifted) but it still feels worse then it was last season despite the better gear/kanai cubing attributes its not as smooth as before, I am going to assume the 2.3 update was the cause of this, the nav server or whatever they say it is. By hand, I can do grift 60s with HOTA which is great, but I want to bot using the best build. Will have to look into trying http://www.diablofans.com/builds/57407-grift-70-solo-barb-whirlwind-build but this one too, would require a lot of personal combat changes to barb so he doesn't spam shouts etc. I stopped botting/playing for like 6 months, come back and I barely remember how to go and change the combat .cs files myself to fix any of this so.

If anyone IS currently botting a monk, or barb, with <build here> please if you can, list gear/weapons kanai setup, passives(or just link to a build set) as well as what settings you are using if any special are needed.

I gave up botting barbs - it's plain stupid: standing on lasers, middle of explosions, etc.

Monk botting is great. No problem doing T10 rifts. I usually use it on gr50 upgrading gems

But in terms of farming dbs, I have to use the wd with old Zunimassa set + Sage for double dbs. T7 averaging 20 dbs per rift whereas without Sage gets around 10-12

Anything higher than 50 on a monk becomes iffy, even 50s at times. The biggest problem I find is with targeting and avoidance. The bot just stops using abilities and tries to run through enemies or try to wait for an opening for it to run. And when using abilities is required to stay alive you will die pretty fast.

I can do 65 by hand on my monk.

I'm rocking a WW barb, though it's far from ideal. I can run T8/T9 comfortably when I'm playing myself, but have to keep it at T7 when botting (though T6 would really be better), and even then it's rough. I had to disable AOE avoidance completely, else he'll stop WW and just sit and twitch like an idiot. Still does that sometimes though. Especially when surrounded by a lot of mobs where I can't walk.

It's workable, but far from perfect. I still die in most rifts to AOE silliness, but it's really luck of the draw what with having AOE avoidance disabled and whatnot. Greaters are generally much smoother since there's no loot to distract with and he just keeps moving. Don't even get me started on trying to keep Taeguk stacks up.

Notable changes I made:

All Avoidance settings disabled except for: Avoid AoE OOC and Attack Mobs in AoE.
Misc > Min Trash Mob Pack Size: 3 (Kind of tinkering with this. Might be better at 1)
Barbarian > Fury Dump always: on
Variables > Barbarian.Whirlwind.UseRange: 200 (changed from 20) - This helped the absolute most. Might even benefit being higher. Going to bump it to 500 right now, just for kicks and see how it goes.

Notable aspects of build:
**Remove ALL fury generators from skills. If you use Focus/Restraint, this is kind of a DPS hit, but otherwise, he casts fury spenders all day rather than keeping WW going.
6p Wastes, F/R, Taeguk(swap with Wreath of Lightening would probably be better), Pain Enhancer, Bane of the Trapped. Spec'd for CDR (Leoric's & Obsidian Ring in cube. Will swap Leoric's for hexing pants when I get them though)
Skills:
Ignore Pain: Iron Hide (threshold at default)
Battle Rage: Bloodshed
WoTB: Insanity
Threatening Shout: Falter (use on CD)
WW: Blood Funnel
The last slot I'm still playing with. I seem to have the best luck from Rend while botting. Furious Charge is ideal, but screws things up for me.
Passives:
Ruthless
Weapons Master
Boon of Bul-Kathos (CDR, might swap for Nerves of Steel to mitigate some of the stupid deaths)
Rampage (could also probably swap for more survival. Bloodlust maybe?)

Just want to add that my barb does this EXACT same thing. Suuuuper obnoxious. I don't think it's a class issue at this point. (unless you're counting melee-range as a factor...)

my barb does t8-9 for speed, clears rifts very fast and i mainly use it to farm dbs and keystones. however pushing exp, no.
monk on the other hand cant clear t8 as fast but can go to t10 and gtr rift 50. IK barb can do 50 as well but not as good as ep monk.

Atm helltooth WD for me is doing the best as far as high exp/hour goes. farming 50 gtr rifts with out a problem in 6-9 minutes.

WD all the way boys, after that GR63 thread i did some testing. Wow WD is way overpowered, and the bot runs it so damn smoothly. just go ancient weapon, and can do GR 55 under 8min bascially everytime, even without power/conduit pylons. with those, I can push 5-6min easy, especially in a nice density. Oh and did I mention? 0 deaths...Yup the high intelligence (gives resistance) estoric gem, and combiation of other things, 0 deaths GR 55. thank you, never botting anything else lol

edit: ok it can die to standing in molten, but the high uptime on spirit walk, and the spirit vessel passive, you are like an immunity hero

#1 rank WD build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/esk-1510/hero/66209719

I will have to agree, the Helltooth wd is ridiculously op. I just completed my Helltooth set today, none of them ancient not even the Suwong Diviner, but am able to bot gr55 without dying. I can't wait to see the bot in action with everything ancient and all elemental skills in gears set.

PS. the gems for the wd had not even passed level 40 lol

@ridz89 why in that profile do you use ancient spear? yet don't use charger skill? am I missing something?

thats crazy, can you post the build you have right now and skills?

Nothing to write home about...standard configuration, none of them ancient:

- complete ht set
- focus (no cc, cd 39) + restraint (cc 6, no cd) with sockets (iceblink and bane of the trapped gems, level 37 and 38)
- temporary ammy with no socket, just int+vit+cc+cd
- suwong diviner staff
- jeram's bracer

passive: grave injustice, spirit vessel, confidence ritual, swampland attunement
skills: spirit walk, acid cloud, wall of death, soul harvest, corpse spider, piranhado
cube: furnace, grin reaper, convention of elements

- bot used default db wd settings. nothing was changed

bot second try at gr55, died twice, ran away from rg for about 5 seconds for some reason but still have about a minute left in the timer

PS. I am paragon 576 at this moment

Seven-sides strike monk dont Work whit bot. it dont use any skill its onlu walk around

So WD is a good toon to Bot whit? or is barb the one?

7s monk works just great. you have to enable "cast primary before sss" and "disable exploding palm", otherwise it will just run around lol

the profile I linked was for WD , and tehse arent my profiles, they must be testing different spells. Charger skill for Barb is correct for focus / restraint

idk what wd gets exp average but i just run grift 50 with ww barb and leoric + red gem and get about 20-30 m exp /hour or thats what it says on demonbuddy

If you look him up ingame ( leaderboard -> view hero details ) You'll see the gear he was wearing to set the record. Looks like he's messing around with builds on that armory link.

You need to get Set Items and build some set bonuses up. You will only go so far in this game without building a set.

My suggestion would be to build a Raiment set [Dashing Strike]. My opinion at this point is Raiment is the best overall set for the monk as it lends itself to both higher torments and speed clear builds.

You can do this pretty easily, it only took me a day when I started my new seasonal monk.

Don't forget to use the Cube to help you, it does more than just extract legendary powers:
"Upgrade Rare Item"
Place a yellow item into the cube along with the following ingredients. The cube will convert it to a legendary of the SAME TYPE.
Deaths Breath x25
Reusable Parts x50
Arcane Dust x50
Veiled Crystal x 50

IE: If you want a shoulder, then go to the Blacksmith, forge a level 70 yellow [rare] shoulder. Cube it for a legendary shoulder. Yes, this can result in Set Items.

You can rinse and repeat this for all slots of a set. I was able to even get a couple ancient items from it within 10 tries.

-------

Another way to get the right items using the cube:
Convert Set Item
Piece from a set x1
Death's Breath x10
Forgotten Souls x10

If you have a piece of the Raiment set, you can convert it to another piece within that same set.

IE: Say you find a pair of Raiment shoulders but you are already wearing a better one. You can convert it in the cube. It will re-roll the item to a Raiment set item.

My pathway:
After wasting my time with an Innas/Sunwuko build I had 2 pairs of the Raiment pants.
  • BOOTS I kept the best pair of pants, converted one to Raiment boots in the cube.
  • SHOULDERS Then I went to the blacksmith, forged 10 yellow [rare] level 70 shoulders. Cubed them all and got 2 Raiment shoulders.
[*=1]One rolled as Ancient so I kept that, held onto the bad one in stash for converting.
  • GLOVES Back to the blacksmith, forged 10 rare level 70 gloves. Cubed them to legendary and got a set of Rainment gloves.
  • CHEST Back to the blacksmith, forged 10 rare level 70 chests. Cubed them to legendary and got 2 Raiment chests.
[*=1]Kept the better of the two, kept the second one for converting.
  • HELM I put the bad Raiment shoulder back into the cube, converted it to another set item 3 times before it was a Raiment Helm
  • Better PANTS I put the bad chest piece back into the Cube to convert it. Got better pants than I originally had.

After playing for awhile I decided to give the "Upgrade Rare Item" another chance. I ended up getting:
Ancient In-Geom (forge level 70 rare swords, ~25 tries)
Ancient Raiment Pants (rare level 70 pants, about ~20 tries)
x3 Flying Dragons (rare level 70 daibo, less than 10 tries)
Flow of Eternity (rare level 70 daibo, less than 20 attempts)
Nemesis Bracers (rare level 70 bracers, ~25 tries)

Realistically I only found 2 pieces of the set, I forged the rest in the cube.

Here is some build info for you that I posted elsewhere:
Latest version appears to be working much more efficiently with my speed monk build. Prior to .98 it was looking like speed builds were pointless as it would fixate on a point not reachable.

Since .98 it looks like this issue is mostly, if not completely solved.

If anyone wants to try the speed build I am using, its pretty straightforward:

  • 6 piece Raiment set (Head, Shoulders, Gloves, Chest, Pants, Boots), try for CDR in the slots you can afford it.
  • Reaper Wraps and Nemesis Bracers w/COLD DAMAGE (Cube whichever one you don't have the best roll on)
    • Fire Damage if you want to run Cindercoat.
    • Cindercoat could be used in the Cube and then you would run Nemesis Bracers and do without the Reaper Wraps.
    • I chose Reaper Wraps as it seems to be out of Spirit less. Your results may vary.
  • Belt is your Choice. Vigilante for CDR, Saffron for RCR, Witching Hour for outright DPS, etc.
    • If your DPS is high enough to use build this in high torment, use a GoldWrap. Your armor will go off the charts.
    • My gold counter in the bottom right is constantly over million. It's been as high as 8 million.
  • Focus and Restraint
  • In-Geom (With the Nemesis bracers the Proc is on constantly)
  • Envious Blade (Guaranteed Crit on the first hit)
  • Amulet is your choice. Rakoff's Glass of Life would appear to be BiS but anything with good rolls will do.

  • Skills
    • Fist of Thunder - Quickening best all around to fill spirit bulb
    • Dashing Strike - Blinding Speed can change to whatever your highest elemental damage is.
    • Blinding Flash - Replenishing Light if you're low on Spirit a lot, Faith in the Light for higher Torments/Rifts
    • Breath of Heaven - Infused with Light again with the resource regeneration.
    • Mystic Ally - Air Ally again with resource regeneration. it gives you 4 per second, but what we really want is that Active Skill, 100 spirit on activation. In my build it's about once per 7 seconds.
    • Epiphany - Insight again with the resource regen.

  • Cube:
    • Flying Dragon
    • Nemesis Bracers or Reaper Wraps
      • You could choose to run a Cindercoat here and wear the Nemesis on your character, not using reaper wraps.
    • Avarice Band (Gold and Globe pickup radius increased to 30 yards with max stacks)
      • If running a Cindercoat on character, you would want to run an RRoG here, but I don't recommend it.

  • Gems:
    • Wreath of Lighting for movement speed and AOE damage if you're playing a lower level
      • Gives you 25% movement speed in between dashes
      • You could choose to put Warzechian Armguards in the cube or on your character. This gen will proc them a lot.
    • Boon of the Hoarder for gold to proc the Avarice Band more often.
      • Also gives you 30% movement speed in between dashes.
    • Gogok of Swiftness, or Taeguk. Basically your choice.
      • Taeguk will have a lot of uptime on this build
      • CDR = more uptime for dash and other regen abilities. That = more DPS and faster clear times.

Right now I am running 52% CDR without Gogok on.
1.2 milli0n sheet DPS
Lower to Mid Torment are a face-roll.

This is a great build for rushing through bounties, or Rifts to get GRift keys.
