DB Update not functioning as expected...

When the updates to DB come out, my client attempts an auto update and appears to complete, but upon restart I'm still on the old version. This obviously prompts the update process again. I run the beta versions and do not use the installer so I gather that may have something to do w/ it, but a bit of clarification as to whether this is expected behavior would be appreciated.

(obviously, to correct this, I simply: download the new zip, copy over my plugins and update my globalsettings.xml)
