I've been doing some experimentation these days with my hardware, which is as follows:

AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6ghz (stock cooler) *works @3.8 now
g.skill RipjawsX 1866 (blue, no cooler) *works at 1866 8-10-9-24 2T(non stock timings) 1.65v 1.250 cpu/nb v
nvidia Ge-force 560 ti 2gb (Palit, 2 stock coolers)
Asrock 970 Extreme3 (1.70 bios, latest)

Now, i realize it seems obvious, that changing the speed of components to higher should speed up the processing/data transfer and hence improve the performance of bot/plugins.
It was very hard for me to make any stable changes to my default system, due to these components not being the best combo. Quite to the contrary, turns out this is one of the worst combos known for OCing.. Anyway, my system runs at 3.6ghz/1333 by default. This is very stable, but i was getting the occasional spikes that many people blame trinity for, since last Giles versions. Today, however, after a little cpu OC and setting my memory to work at 1866 (as stable as i could) THE SPIKES were gone. My bots (3 chars) are more efficient now and i started wondering.. Have you guys tested memory speeds/timings with DB/trinity to see the difference in performance? If you have, what were your results?

I think i will keep trying until i reach the best possible performance with stable system that is able to bot for a long time. If this is of any interest to the community, i will gladly report my findings and progress here.

Edit: spikes still happen sometimes tho, just the rate of it happening has declined dramatically, at least in my opinion.

Take care
