Sup fellow botters,
I post this at Support Forum for now, because I'm not a 100% sure if this is the optimal setup, I will edit this asap if you suggest any improvements / I find it out myself. Maybe we can move this to Guide Section later.
Unfortunately that great VMWare guide got deleted. Topic Starter just left a comment that "VMWare is bad".
I highly doubt this, and I believe if this was a ban related issue it happened due to not setting up the VMs correctly.
This is my current method of setting them up:
For maximizing security I highly recommend to use proxs or VP N for each VM. There are plenty of VP N services that offer free usage until you reach certain traffic limit. You get 2GB which is more than enough for botting here. Just create X accounts for each of your bot. (10min mail helps here)
If you followed all steps correctly, there should be no way for Blizzard to see that you are one person.
If you guys have any suggestions or addons, please let me know so we can optimize this together.
Best regards,
smokedope

This is my current method of setting them up:
- Get a win7_x86 image
- Get VMWare Workstation 8 or 9 (if you have 9 set the Virtual Machine to VMWare Workstation 8)
- Set up the virtual machine, assign 2GB RAM, 1CPU core for now (this can be adjusted at a later point if you have performance issues), select bridged networking
- Store the virtual Machine on a virtual drive, single file, allocate all space
- "VMWare Easy Install" will install the Windows fully automatic, on first startup make sure VM Tools will be installed (if it doesnt, rightclick the virtual machine -> Install VMWare Tools)
- Rightclick VM -> Settings -> Hardware -> remove all components you don't need such as sound card, optical drive, etc.
- Make sure to have Framework 4 and Visual C++ 2008 installed
- Rightclick VM -> Settings -> Options -> Shared folders -> always enabled -> Tick the box "map as network drive" -> Add - > your D3 directories (you will now see them as nettwork drives)
- Download DemonBuddy or just drag and drop you're entire DB folder from your physical machine into the VM
- Test it and make sure everything is working correctly, if you encounter performance issues, try out 2 processor cores and 3GB RAM, if issue persists install D3 copies on SSD (make sure that Demonbuddy and D3 are in your antivir and Firewall exceptions list)
- Once everything runs smoothly remove HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment from your registry ( do NOT start diablo 3 until you followed all other instructions below! )
- Run sysprep from \Windows\System32\sysprep\sysprep.exe. Select OOBE, Generalize, Shut down after sysprep
- Now do as many clones of this VM as you need. I suggest leaving one VM in this state if you have VM demand at a later point.
- Change all your HHD drives volume ID with VolumeID on each VM
- Change your mac addresses on each VM
- If you now launch D3 for the first time on the VM it will generate new unique client ID if you followed Step 11.
