Creating a mesh?

How do I create a mesh? I made a .mesh file and loaded it, then hit the "start mapping" button. At first it was like:
No profile is loaded! - From: Styx

and then after some tinkering with profiles I got it to give me:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. - From: Styx

How do I fix this, what am I doing wrong? I'm uploading the .xml profile I'm trying to create and the mesh is just a blank file named stormpeakfire.mesh
