So you're saying the account that he had the character in that guild as GM was a whole separate account from his main one? As in different account name and log in but maybe on same Bnet? I guess I can kinda see them going after accounts that are connected to starting the guilds with G Banks that are collecting botted mats. But if his main account was not connected to that guild, then that means they were tracking the herbs that you were trading to him.
I've seen this before with gold and Kronos on Everquest. They can see transactions between characters so the whole theory of trading character to character rather than using mail being safer is not always so. Typically they don't go through this much trouble as it requires sifting through a lot of logs, but if they're main targets right now are farmers which it certainly seems to be, then it's very possible that they're following the mats and gold rather than simply cutting off the farm account. I was banned before on an EQ account because I bought platinum and the farmer I purchased from got tagged. I've just never seen it actually happen in WoW before
