I have very little knowledge when it comes to comparing CPUs for botting, but I'm narrowing down my choices for a new computer I'm trying to build. I want to eventually be able to run 9-12 bots (though I don't see myself getting up to 12), and I was wondering which of these CPUs would allow me to run the most bots:

Intel i7-2600k
vs.
AMDFX-8150 (lowest price)
vs
Intel i7-3820

Will any of these do the job? I want it so that it can run 9 comfortably, while allowing me to be able to do other things on the side if need be, talking purely CPU.

I'm running Diablo 3 on a i7 3820 (Not OC'ed yet) in combination with a GTX560, 16 GB DDR3 ram. On my full resolution (1440x900, yeah i know it sucks) Diablo 3 takes about 4% CPU usage on average. If you would lower the Graphic Settings then it might drop 1%.

If you want to be able to run 9-12 bots then you should get at least 16 GB DDR3 RAM (preferably quad channel) and a decent GPU (i guess GTX560 would do perfectly fine).

Your best bet will be the i7-2600k, and get a stable overclock on it to about 4.5ghz. As Marlhex mentioned, you'll want to get at least 16GB of DDR3 ram, (1600mhz+) - dual channel will be fine.

RAM - only size! No matter what channels it support; no mmater fast or slow.
CPU - almost all 3*** Intel cpu's can run 15-20 clients.
GPU - in case with Diablo AMD seems works better (7*** prefer, even 7850 can run 15+ copyes)

Notes about RAM: In most cases DB run on small territory. So after few runs, Diablo fills the memory with all he needs.

Thanks for the quick responses. I might as well post the other parts of the computer I was gonna buy as well to get some feedback:

16gb DDR3 Ram (Quad-Channel)
GTX480 (560 is better?)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3M

and an SSD obv

i vote 2700k..
its only 30$ bigger price then 2600k but doing OMG perfomance.
Currently runing it with overclocked till 4.5Ghz
7D3 clients + 7BOTS
only 18-20% of CPU usage

SSD musthave
if u want 14+bots on 1 machine i recommend memory slots for 8gb each but its 2.5 times more expensive
if u going for 560 be amuzed with card temprature =)) currently using 2 of them and they are RLY WARM.

U know 4x4 GB with Quad Channel performs faster right now then 2x8 GB Dual Channel right?

Just remember: You not trying to run Crysis5 on max perfomance! ;)
It's only D3+DB =)

Hmm mind posting ur bios? My chip flies to 90 degrees when oc-ed to 4.5ghz but once I downvolt it just stop running :(

Um.. I'd put it back to stock clocks until you get a real cooler if i were you.

AMD FX8150 anyone who says otherwise has never used it (strictly for botting D3 i could care less about anything else).
GPU Nvidia 480 GTX anyone who says it runs hot is an idiot and doesn't know how to set the fan speed manually (it will run at 20-25% the entire time unless you do this) I run mine at 60-75% and the thing never goes above 65C. When I run it at 100% it goes to 49C with 9+ D3 windows going.
Ram go for 32 Gbs on newegg
Hard Drive get an SSD

and USE isboxer you're spending 500-800$ on a PC spend 40$ on innerspace/isboxer. Ignore the people who say lowering the resolution to 200,150 doesn't help they have no clue wtf they're talking about.

Get a MUGEN3(for 4.2-4.6Ghz) or Silver Arrow(recomended for 4.6-5.0Ghz)

once u did bad overclock be rdy to reinstall OS =)
