Considering Picking this Up Coming from ViperBot

Hello Folks!

I am considering picking this up. I currently use Viperbot and have been rather happy with its gathering and crafting capabilities (I have maxed gathering and am well on my way to max crafting). Sadly that bot is lacking in the magic/melee leveling and namely atma grinding aspects of the game, which brought me here.

It is pretty cheap, especially with a trial. What I am worried about is that I have read that for something like the ATMA grind pathing is the same for everyone using it, so multiple folks using the same bot on the same server in the same location at the same time (damn that was a mouthful) could look suspcious?

I generally run the bot on my work machine, so I am always around when it is running. I assume that, like Viper, it can run in windowed/minimized mode? I like keeping the sounds on in the background just so I can hear what is going on and I will check on the bot every so often as well.

Anyway, hope I can get some input. Appreciate the help!

While I haven't tried Viperbot, so I can't give a comparison, I can say that this bot is getting the job done for me.

We have a few contributors that are putting out some good quality stuff, and considering that the development of the bot itself is pretty much a one man show, new features are coming in fast enough.

Mastagh is currently working on updating Kupo(the built in CombatRoutine) and I have been working with Exmortem on getting some of the bugs out of his Magitek CombatRoutine. After I see what Mastagh is going to do with Kupo, I'll probably take a look at building a CombatRoutine myself to throw into the mix.

With the implementation of OrderBot, we will have the ability to have a single 1-50 Grinding Profile soon.(Mastagh is adding new tags to be able to implement this)

And there are also things that are available that I just personally don't use. (PVP Bot for example)

So while my view is 100% biased, If you're looking for a good Bot that has good support, I'd pick up RebornBuddy

Hi there, you probably got that pathing looking suspicious problem from me, since I tend to post a lot about it. It's true, the basic pathing is somewhat shared by all the RB bots, so they generally use that route to go from one FATE to another since the NavMesh is incomplete so randomized paths haven't been turned on yet. Another thing to look out for is simply looking like a bot. For example, RB users who use ReturnToAetheryte in Coerthas always go back up the stairs to the Aetheryte, which is already suspicious, but even moreso when they also take the stairs to go to the actual FATE since the actual playerbase just jumps over the ledge -- time is important in a FATE zerg, after all.

However, separating yourself from the general bot population by messing with the settings will sort of give yours a better personality, and hanging out in the actual player FATE zerger's locations will actually make you less suspicious even though you're in the middle of other real players. It's up to you to get those right, though.

To be completely fair, however, I might've only noticed the bots because I was specifically looking at them for what NOT to do.

One thing I can point out, if it helps any, is that I know for 100% certain that I've been reported, when I was working on Animus. I fate botted just about 24/7, in the same zone, with a buddy who ran along the exact same path as me and looked sketch as hell. There was a guy on my server posting on the forums complaining about my exact actions, saying he reported me etc. While he didn't call me out by name, I could tell he was talking about me based on his descriptions. What happened? Nothing. No contact from GM, no ban, no anything.

Never used the bot or played the game.. planning on trying though since I've got friends that want to play & I need some levels ^_^

If your picking up the game for the first time and want to go straight to bot for levels you will miss out on a lot of stuff you need to unlock dungeons, trials, and raids. Just remember to do your main quest line and class quest line along the way, that way when your 50 you will have almost everything unlocked just a few side quests to unlock the rest.

I gotta tell ya (and I know you won't listen anyways) but botting to 50 without playing is a bad idea. While all mmos since wow are a joke, they did try to keep the challenge a step above with ffxiv and it's very easy to distinguish a good player from a bad.

Even more - I made the mistake of taking a few characters to cap purely by bot and I'm extremely NON-proficient at those classes and so I avoid them like the plague lol.

Ultimately up to you, and I know doing it the easy way will be attractive, but it has it's pitfalls. Id honestly recommend Atleast playing to 30 by hand. You'll have a fair understanding of your classes nuances by that point, although far from all it's abilities.

That or do a few levels by bot, a few by hand etc.

I'm sure you will read the same thing elsewhere though. Don't say I didn't warn ya Anything meaningful you want to do at 50 requires Atleast some skill - and just like immersion and the rpg part of mmo"rpg" - having a community accepting and willing to coddle went the way of the dinosaur right around the time blizzard put out it's get rich quick scheme.

Magitek got me through Relic Weapon Quests and Healing through Bahamut Turn 2, I have never healed a dungeon except Amdapor Keep and that was with Magitek as well (Grabbed all Relics).

So technically you can just tweak Magitek and be fine with most of the dungeons except when you bug out, then you're just crap out of luck.

As far as taking soemthing to 50 and sucking at it, I hear you. That's not entirely my goal. As it stands I try to play only when I have rested exp simply because my playtime is rather limited. I was a hardcore XI player back in the day when it was an ultimate grind fest (still is but has gotten lighter) and the cap was still 75. I wa also a hardcore wow player from vanilla to wotlk. I just don't have the time to commit to spend leveling each class up a couple of dozen hours. Or, rather, the time I do have I want tos pend time enjoying challenging content, not just grinding the same FATES and instances over and over again.

I would also think it would look rather suspect... a level 50 who hasn;t done any of the storyline. For better or for worse storyline needs be done at least once in order to unlock content. There is no point having a level 50 if you are locked out of all that content due to not completeing said story

Yes. It can be used while minimized.

I used viperbot before I started development and I can confidently say we blow it out of the water.

If you don't mind skipping out on the various non-scenario quests, this bot can save you a lot of time even on your first class. I recently created a new character, and I basically just alternate between main scenario quests to progress and unlock stuff, and fatebot to level up. Ran gatherbot overnight once to gather shards, sold them, and now I have more than enough gil for anything I'd want pre-50 without having to transfer any over from my main. With a reasonable amount of uptime it'd take only a couple weeks from fresh character to 50 with a minimal amount of involvement. Leveling alt classes would be far faster because I could just 100% fatebot. And yeah, it runs in the background so you can use your computer for other things.

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of youtube on how the bot works, UI, etc. Are there any videos I can take a quick look at to see this thing in action? I am assuming there are...

Not to mention if you're on the fence you can always give the bot a trial 3 day run for like 1.50 USD. That's what I did. Sold me I'm going to buy my permanent key tomorrow when I get paid.

IDK... every other bot on the market has a setup and tutorial video. It's what sold me on viper since I actual got to see what people do to set up rather than "simply dropping some money at the issue and hoping it actually works for me" Generally they are uploaded by the writers of the bots. It's not as if SE is oblivious to the fact that these bots exist. To my knowledge nobody has been banned simply for uploading a video. Pretty damn easy to make everything look completely anonymous.

So... safe to say there isn;t such a thing for this one?

I'm pretty sure there aren't video's for this. Why would you even need one anyway? It's about as difficult to install as creating a new folder.

I'd slap myself if I needed a video to enter my key to log in, choose a combat routine (if you opted to download one), choose a bot function from the dropdown list (Combat Assist, Fate, Grind, Gather, etc.), load a profile if the option needs one (Grind, Gather), click job settings to make sure it's doing what I need my whm/lnc/pld whatever to do, then click start. It really is that easy, I promise.

The only thing that gave me a little gyp was when I wanted to load a plugin. Log and Plugin are button looking tabs that switch between the running log viewer and the list of plugins in the plugin folder. An oversight on my part was the trickiest thing.

While I agree that we don't really need one, I guess it'd be nice to have one to entice non-savvy potential customers.

Though with some revisions looking like overhauls every now and then it might get outdated really fast.

Folks, I was merely saying that I have no idea what the UI even looks like before buying. I don't doubt that I can figure it out, it's just the simple fact that I have to dump money (regardless of how much) before I can so much as even see what I am purchasing.

I wanted to know if there was a video available. A simple "no and there probably never will be one" would have been sufficient.

I can;t help but think that there are others like me that would like videos to help them make the decision to buy. If the UI si so simple and intuitive, it actually sounds better than any other bot out there (meaning more sales). Perhaps I will take it upon myself to make a video if/when I decide to go ahead with this purchase.
