Concern: Lack of RB Progress vs Free Alternatives – Time to Evolve?

Hi everyone,

I've been using RebornBuddy for several years now, along with premium addons like PandaFarmer, which I genuinely love and support. I’ve always been happy to pay for tools that make my life easier — no problem there.

But I’ve reached a point where I’m seriously questioning the direction and development of RB itself. Over the years, a lot of issues — like basic movement limitations (including flight) — have remained unchanged. I remember accepting it at the time because we had to rely on external tools like Lisbeth to fill the gaps. But Lisbeth is often inactive for months, and having to buy multiple addons just to make RB usable in all zones is starting to feel unreasonable.

Meanwhile, the game has seen a rise in free community tools and mods that offer very similar automation or convenience features — sometimes even more polished — and they’re updated frequently. That contrast is becoming harder to ignore.

As a paid product, I believe RB should evolve. The base should improve — whether that’s better movement, modern APIs, QoL upgrades, or fewer dependencies on third-party tools. Right now, it feels like it’s standing still while the rest of the ecosystem (both paid and free) moves forward.

I don’t mean this post as hate or a rant — I think the work behind RB is great and I’d love to keep supporting it. But at some point, a paid tool needs to justify itself again — not just live off its legacy.

Is there any info or roadmap on planned improvements? Or a way the community can help push this forward?

Thanks for reading,

I was held back for many years being the sole developer without the means to fund external aid. Allowing RB to stagnate due to my health issues has been a major stressor for me, and was a large part of the decision to split from bossland. Now that I've gone independent and gotten a few months worth of sales data I'm reaching out to have funded profiles created. I'm also receiving some help on working on flying which has been no small task to solve. I'd love for kupo to get some love as well, I've often considered seeking about including magitek as the base routine, but I think it tries to do "too much", if thats a good way of putting it where it's hard to tell if an issue is with magitek or a quest behavior etc.

A lot of behind the scenes work has been done lately to lay the ground work for more advanced systems. With the builds that were released a few days ago RB now supports mesh variations which will allow for improved navigation in areas that change like cosmic exploration and dungeons.

One thing I am still very proud of is the response time to new patches, for the last few expansions we've been available on launch day and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Things That are actively being worked on

Profiles for leveling and end game content
Enhanced flying navigation
Enhanced avoidance

Things I know need improvement

Kupo
Built in crafting system

Thanks for taking the time for this post, please let me know if you have any specific things you'd like to see.

We have a handful of devs that contribute massively to the community, is the idea to integrate there work into RB or provide something separate?
I see avoidance and navigation are being worked on which is fantastic, I am hoping this might lead to animation reading for more complex avoidance and early avoidance and logic of thats possible (maybe reading animation ID's or something to create logic for non telegraphed attacks and quicker reactions?)
In terms of kupo, as long as I can remember my default has to been to install another CC immediately. I am not sure how well kupo runs currently, but magitech runs extremely well out of the box without needing to change settings, I think though it gives a lot of customisation its not really needed if you dont want to make customisations so in terms of doing too much I think it might be beneficial to integrate that if possible.

Crafting system, lisbeth does a lot but saga is away often so its deteriorating over time. Its certainly an area that needs more love right now, but it still functions most of the time. Basic crafting for levelling might be a good thing to ship with RB though.

I feel avoidance and navigation would certainly improve the autonomy of rebornbuddy with the profiles and botbases we have now, though the one thing (not major) that slows down autonomy is the newer quest style of zooming in on things / search for things in first person mode, so if that can maybe be addressed somehow that would be ideal.

I am pretty excited to see what new heights RB can reach, using it since its release and a user of HB in its peak I know how far buddybots can go. Though I am very uneducated on the limitations of RB. - Speaking of which, have we got / can we get some in depth documentation?

RB actually comes stock with the Craft OrderBot tag that can be used to craft. It's just not taken advantage of much because Lisbeth makes crafting so simple

The Zoomies and Point Menu style quests are handled by additions us community memebers have made to LlamaLibrary. I've implemented them into Panda Farmer MSQ set. We can't add them into the stock RB profiles as they require LL to work, but it's something we've already tackled.

Thats good to hear, not come across one of those quests in a while but remember them being a pause in the autonomy.

Whats the devs position on integration with RB, such as LL shipping with stock RB etc? Obviously its not needed, just curious on how you guys are viewing the future of RB together or would you rather have things separate? Bit cheeky of me to ask so you can tell me to piss off if you want

There was some discussion about including it a while back, but never progressed as my health declined rapidly during the discussion.

It's probably time to reevaluate that.

I think small steps like including the commonly used updater would make the most sense first, as by bundling it the update can be done in the time the user starts the bot and before it finishes logging in that way it bypasses the restart step.

I was thinking more about magitek, if everyone already uses it, does it matter if its not the "Default", perhaps it is also time to bundle to talk about bundling magitek.
-This has some complications as It does require precompliation, will need to see if there have been any advances in the compliation space that will let use compile xaml at runtime so that it can be shipped in source form.

Please consider a modern approach at documenting namespaces, etc. I think this would actually bring more to RB and more people would consider developing third party plugins/botbases if there was documentation.

I acknowledge that there is Y2Krazys site, however it's about 200 versions off now.

Thanks for the feedback, actively looking into something that can convert the shipped documentation into something more accessible.
