*PLEASE KEEP THIS DISCUSSION CIVILIZED*

I point that out, first, because we can not have a proper discussion without keeping our heads cool and using common sense in what we post. When threads turn into flame wars or name-calling, mods will come in and shut it down.

Anyway. . .

I have been looking around on the thread concerning the usage of Honorbuddy in PvP (arenas and battlegrounds). Even though I am an avid user of HB in those environments, I understand why they would want to disable the bot in arenas. Unfortunately, they are considering doing the same thing with battlegrounds, essentially shutting out paying customers, like myself, who use Honorbuddy for PvP.

Specifically, I use Honorbuddy in PvP for the combat routine - I have not once touched the Battleground Bot that comes shipped with HB. I do feel that if any more PvP services are to be removed from HB, it should be the AFK battleground bots.

The above poll was made out of my curiosity to see a small sample of how many of us use Honorbuddy for PvP or PvE, in general. I understand the poll may be biased, due to the thread name attracting certain individuals, but it's worth a shot.

I would like to know your opinions on the discussion at hand or any suggestions for limited use of bots in PvP situations. Ultimately, it is not up to us, but rather the administrators and creators of Honorbuddy to decide the fate of the bot, for the overall safety of our botting community.

Again, please keep your posts relevant, proper and civilized. Thanks.

look, we never supported arena. about 3 years ago when i was board and looking for something to do, i wanted to make an arena botbase since not only would of it been easy to implement but could of added that checkbox feature to honorbuddy. i ran it by the higher ups and was told no, so this wasnt a NEW policy that was implemented. if they had wanted it to work in arena they would of added the feature themselves not of waited till someone else was going to write it. the whole reason why it wasnt blocked in the first place was because even though once upon a time we never supported dungeons, raphus came along and started writing support for it and we eventually went and meshes for all the maps and because of that dungeonbuddy became a supported feature. so it was because of that all the maps in wow eventually got navigation and the bot worked with all of them allowing for the bot to function in arena's, it was never intended to be used there, if we had it would of certainly been a more polished experience.

now i keep seeing spam comments saying that arena was just the first go that other modes will follow, and i want to assure people that its not the case. if we didnt want the bot to be used in battlegrounds we wouldn't of spent time developing BGBuddy, and i don't see a future where it wouldn't be allowed.

Didn't even know that - good to know though. I didn't purchase Honorbuddy until June 2013, so it's helpful to learn more about its history. Wild to think that not even dungeons were supported in its original versions. I actually thought HB did really well in arenas for me.

This is why I specified in the title and original post to keep discussion calm and civilized. I really want to know what people think about HB usage in PvP, whether it is arenas, battlegrounds or even world PvP. I brought up the possibility of battleground usage being removed as well, because of what Bossland said in the arena announcement. But it gives me some glimmer of hope that you don't think it will be removed. Here's to hoping!

This is why I had to specifically request for "civilized" discussion. . .

Botting in ranked PvP really ruins an important part of the game for a large number of people, including honorbuddy customers who use bots to level and gear characters for the purpose of playing ranked PvP themselves. I think anyone who understands gaming will understand why this decision was correct.

OP lumped honor farming with ranked pvp as one thing, but they are two different things. Lumping the two together makes the entire post pointless. To respond to OPs question, bots should never be used in any environment where losing results in a loss of rating, especially if their intended purpose is to be better than the average opponent.

That was my fault - I should have been more specific, but I do know that they are two different things. I mainly do random battlegrounds, usually in groups of five with friends. Sometimes I will do arenas to farm Conquest points, though Ashran has ideally made it easier. I never did competitive arenas to raise rating (especially when I saw combat routines, alone, wouldn't cut it).

Same for me - I should have been more specific about how I use Honorbuddy in PvP.

you can say the same for PVE...Don`t you agree?
I was going to say something similar, but I fear too much to phrase what I am thinking incorrectly. I feel that every aspect of World of Warcraft can be competitive, including raiding, leveling, achievement hunting, farming, auctioning, etc. I think what Bossland felt was that there is a significantly higher level of competition in arenas.

so isnt using honrbuddy in PvE content then the same?,... cuz its also a competion players vs A.I.^^

i never in my years since glider and honorbuddy was interested in PvE^^ i bought honorbuddy and combatroutines only for PvP. and now even the last hope was robbed from the devs for not allowing honorbuddy in pvp^^

Not really being clear :p Kinda confused by what you are trying to say.

I mentioned this in another thread: I don't want to find another bot. Honorbuddy is a great program with a great community, a respectable and caring staff and great support. I am not devastated by the decision to remove the usage in arenas - I originally just created this thread, hoping to see the community's input on the matter. CodenameG has made me feel better about it, though.

PvE and raiding isn't quite as competitive as PvP in general. AI won't complain about you killing them, nor will they "themselves" be able to report you for any suspicious activity. I was feeling the same way about every part of the game being competitive to an extent, but I've learned to get over it see it from both sides. I am a little disappointed with the decision about arenas, but I'm getting over it as well.

keeping battlegrounds is great. Now if you could only make it that only rotation type routines are allowed that be great. Full AFK bots in PVP ruin battlegrounds so much cause they are just terrible really and very, very obvious.

I was hoping for the same. There are a few videos floating around YouTube that document cases where nearly the whole team in a battleground is botting, due to their pathing and behavior patterns.

i think "honorbuddy devs" are acting at them moment like the blizzards dev has done when they decided to stop flying with release of WoD. flying in WoW was a part since BC,...and pvp/battlegrounds/arena with combatroutines was also a big part for honorbuddy for a long time.

if im not mistaken that other bot refused to admit that they got hit with a banwave and hedge themselves saying that it they did get hit it was purely through player reports and not software detection so i put very little faith there

These posts are so pointless.

tl;dr version of honorbuddy arena usage

Bossland used arena CR usage as a scapegoat for the banwave. It definitely wasn't the mass amounts of gold being farmed by bots, or battleground issues. Or maybe the fact they recently released a WoW Token system to use gold to buy Subscription time and are looking to make it an even playing field for people.

Nope, it's definitely arenas! lol So Bossland how is it that we're not getting refunds for buying CRs that you allowed to be sold as being supported in both "Battlegrounds and Arenas"?

With WOW itself i can STOP my subscription if i want, HB has the MAIN option to buy as LIFETIME product....then to remove a large part of that product completely is not ok. Also lets reflect here for a second WHY its called HONORbuddy shal we.... goes back to original intention when this bot was made.....its not LEVELBuddy or PVEbuddy
let the arena QQing begin

Not sure where the OP got the idea battlegrounds were going anywhere? Oh nm.. He invented it, as well as another post on the subject. Smh

YET NEVERTHELESS there WAS an official post some days ago STATING they where CONSIDERING IF they would also remove Battlegrounds.... the post might have been deleted for now political reasons but that dosent change the fact it WAS there ( i will go look in internet arechives to find it for screenshot)
Are you referring to this post?

We approved Honorbuddy to be used in Battlegrounds since its first release but we will look into that again and tell you if we have a change of mind very soon. Or maybe, just maybe Blizzard opens the "Bottlegrounds" with patch 6.2., exclusively for us paying customers.

That's the cause of this thread for me. I'm still confused about what he was referring to with "bottlegrounds."

So should we, as Honorbuddy users, complete an achievement to use it in arenas? :p

All third-party combat routines are (or were - not sure anymore) purchased through the creators of those routines, so I don't think we are entitled to refunds for those routines - PvP or not.

"Levelbuddy" or "PvEbuddy" just don't have that same, nice ring to it as Honorbuddy. I think the name was originally merely for aesthetic purposes.
