Checking Interest in a Profileless Grindbot that will be free.

I am putting up a poll to see if people would be interested in running a plugin that gathers IN GAME data (where mobs are, gathering nodes, loot, etc) in exchange for a free profileless grindbot. One where you can just select the zone then mobs you want to kill and it does the rest. The idea is to have a learning grind bot that eventually will be click and go. So say you want to farm clfthoofs in Nagrand, you just select Nagrand -> Clefthoofs and hit start. The idea is a grind bot to start BUT maybe work it to a point where you can even us it for pet gathering, gatherbuddy etc..

The plugin will be invasive in the fact it will gather game data and send it to my servers. No personal information will be gathered (per HB rules) while running this. So my question to you all, would you be interested in never needing to use a profile again for a grind bot in exchange for running a program that collects in game data?

would this work similar to roboto's plugin for gathering? choose the zone and it picks up the locations from his server with an api key?

I would have been- However I wont support/trust a developer that would support the idea of making a spam bot


Using HB to spam- brings unwarranted attention to HB users- Affecting to whole community in a negative way, and if your ok with that, im not ok with supporting your work...

Don't worry about responding to this, as wont be checking/subscribing to this thread- My opinion wasn't up for debate I just wanted to let you know.

Won't need a key at all. I actually already have the technology to rip wowhead for what ever I need, this is just an info gathering plugin to verify data really.

you dont need users to gather data m8, you can pretty much parse everything from the wow online client itself.
message me if you need info on server structures, clustering techniques and high availibility design
oh btw regarding gat***** - i wouldnt let clients install an odbc driver and open unencrypted mysql connections which can be mined in like no time on your next try

Yea that was go 1 at SQL fun times. There are definitely some improvements I am going to make this time around. Since it is just wow data I do not really care if people have access to it =). This is more or less a community based project open to all. The idea is to get us using a better quality way of doing things other than profiles (which I am sure you agree are less than desirable).

You sound like a clever guy. But grinding is just really not a good idea and havent been so for 2-3 years, just too many and too fast bans.

Also I think there is already a grind bot in which you just position your toon somewhere and it grinds an area around that location for a defined time or until said item is looted.

i think its more like

HB, i want to grind X mob until Y. and the plugin figures out where the mob is and goes there. but i could be wrong.

and he would def want to run it with questbot to take advantage of flightpaths and feathers and all kinds of goodies not offered by grindbot.

and to be honest, grinding isnt what it used to be. 2-3 years ago, grinding was standing in one small area and doing your business for days. much like Botanists old profies used to do to level you up when kicks was broken. nowadays we have questingbot. much nicer with more commands at our disposal.
