Cataclysm Profiles!

I tried to explain this to someone before, mainly people don't want others farming in the same areas as they do at the same time, so they will delay there releases or give you a terrible profile.
 
I think authors should sell their good profiles so it prevents other botters being near you, I would happily buy a private profile so I know I wont get banned.

maybe a private buy(request)/sell section on the forums for the HB/GB customers so people who have illegal versions cannot benefit from these services

Erm, just because the profile is private, doesn't mean you wont get banned..

Superficially, this position makes sense. However, if you think a about the problem a little harder, you realize its the zone(s) that are in contention--not so much the path covered by the profile. If there are 50 bots in Uldum, it doesn't really matter what path they take, they'll still be recognized as bots. If some bots come and go in a multi-zone profile, it doesn't make that much of a difference to the observers.

Something to be careful of...
Selling profiles on the forums is not allowed and a good way to get a mute or ban. If you overtly ask for 'donations' (versus having a donation block in your sig), its considered the same thing as selling profiles. If you want to sell or buy profiles, you must do it on your own (or another) website. The 'gotcha' is your not allowed to advertise that website in the forums, PMs, chat, or anything else operated by Bossland GmbH.

These rules are set and enforced by Bossland GmbH. The Super-Moderators execute them. All I'm saying is be aware of how you're allowed peddle your profiles.

They can't detect bots, so the chances that you will get banned are 0.01%.

Yeah but something like a subscription service on these forums which gives you access to a private section in the forums. Which are setup by the admins giving you access to private profiles and a chance to request stuff for your needs. This gives developers reinsurance that there profile wont be abused and less chance of getting banned.

Ah chinajade this "gotcha" is easy to work around not. just use a facebook or myspace or something as "go between". Might get muted for posting this but i'm all for the option to buy a good profile. That is that is should really be good so better then the freebies. Though think you'd also need a rating and review option for profile makers then. In the end i think it would be to much work but not impossible.

Not sure where you pulled that information from? They CAN detect the bots and will do so when they feel the time is right.

Private profiles do not reduce the risk and public profiles do not increase the risk. It all boils down to how good the actual bot is at handling the events.
If a profile author makes the choice to release their profile they will do so publicly rather than restrict people who do not have access to a super-dooper private section. This is the reason this community works well, people share without limits or restrictions.
 
well i have a herbing and mining profile ready to go (if nothing comes up) to launch on my bots when cata hits tuesdays :D
 
Maybe you should change the "!" to an "?" in the topic. That was kind of missleading and dissapointing at the same time...:mad:

This is where the community breaks down.

This is a sharing community. Without people sharing stuff it wouldn't be a succesful bot. I hope people aren't really this selfish.

Yep.

@ Everyone else. As soon as there is an HB that can be attached to the "new" wow, i'll be making a quick grinding profile 80-85 ... but you know, you can still use the borean tundra until 82-83 easily while profiles are being made =)
