Very simple it would be the worst case of publicity stunt i the entiere career of Bizzard and that is saying something. And this is not something that they would be able to keep quite. Atleat have some kind of faith i humanity not all people in the world will cheat and steal least of all when they would make more money not doing it.

Of course companies make games for profit. And to appease shareholders, they squeeze any value they can.

Depends on company, while larger companies tend to maximize profits at all cost in shortest time span (just like blizzrad right now with RMAH, and dumbing d3 to appeal in theory to widest public), smaller tend to create quality products which draws players with enjoyable gameplay. It is as large companies are working on "all or nothing" basis, so that game has to make hundreds of millions $ profit or its just not worth of making at all, while smaller are happy with making good game in the eyes of their own decency and keep several hundreds of thousand player base. And some time companies with such attitude just hit the spot and we got games which are then played for years (like diablo 2 or starcraft), feat which is impossible to achieve by giants who are to afraid to experiment with something new and cool out fear of not selling game in several millions copies.

Learn to sell....

You all need to learn how to sell gold. You have 10 auction slots. Don't put all your gold in one slot. If you do, your gold will only be first in line for a short time period. Post 10 auctions of 100m each, with like 1 minute intervals between posts. I never have a problem selling all my gold at a decent pace.
