I think that if there's gonna be any expansion of mods, they will select a few people in a PM if they are interested.
Applications for such functions often don't turn out to be the way to go (at least that was always my experience when I ran a site with about 20K unique members).
Then you get alot of wannabe's that are gonna abuse the power they get from it eventually.

If the staff want's to expand, let em select their own. I'm sure when the time comes they already have a pretty good idea who they want to have in their team.

More mods would be the fix for that, or you could assign each mod for X section.

Would clean up the general section of those forums of all the help threads.
Helping mods and members that enjoy answering questions and solving other members problems a set place to find these threads to post advice in.

Tony does handle alot already. Doubt he'd have a problem adjusting to more forums.
