I am looking to buy a computer that can run 7-10 VM's with PoE+EB. I want new gear in the price range 1400-2200 Dollars, preferably as cheap as possible. I am incredibly lazy so I will probably order it online and not put it together myself, there are several sites where I live that allows you to customize your computer and they put it together for you. If anyone knows about some awesome CPU or something to recommend, or if someone knows how to avoid bottlenecking and stuff, I appriciate all and any advice.

im using i7 6700k (not overclocked yet), gtx970, 16gb rams 120 samsung ssd. I started to bot this week and atm with 3 vm running cpu is around 15-20% i think he can handle easy 10 bots

It should, I would easily consider an AMD gpu (better virtualization and shit but anyway, it's 5% of the ressources) and a lot cheaper than this. my bullshit RIG (which handles around 5 VMs) is running with a 5750HD VaporX (yep, it's old)

maybe atleast 24GB of RAM (32GB is cheap anyway) and... I wouldn't recommend using a SSD for VMs, the performance is not really noticeable. I would suggest a decent Seagate/WD Caviar/Blue/Black (server editions)

The average cost of such a RIG is around 800-1000$ (around 700 euros)

i ordered last night 16 more gb of rams and a 250 ssd, didnt knew isnt much difference, i tought poe will run better on a ssd since takes ages to load zones on

I have 4 VMs running on HDD, and 1 on SSD. On SSD it is much better, i do notice the difference. So i think you didnt made a mistake.

I wouldn't advise SSD's on poor setup for 2-3 bots but if you want to run 10 of those at once, you should consider SSD or at least two small HDD's.

Yeap, in VMs you can see the performance but don't expect it as if it was for your personal computer, it'll act faster but that's it. Also, SSDs lifetime is in hours, be sure to have a decent one, and not a cheap shit.

VMware on hdd game loading times 2-3 mins.Vmware on ssd game loading time 10 sec :).

if u have eneugh luxury to bot around in poe and wasting life in this forum here, u should get urself a ssd, not only for bots, for everything!

i could never go back to hdd

Really? I was thinking about saving up for SSD rig, with no HDD cuz I hate the time it takes to load for each game.

Inside a VM, that's a different thing, since it's a shared part of the disk, the improvement is barely noticeable, except when you load your VMs, but the programs that are in it are not as fast as if it was under windows directly.

What you guys think of this for 7-10 bots? Will be buying it today or tomorrow.

Processor
Intel, Haswell
Core i7, 4790
Processor cooler: Intel original
Cores: 4 st
3,6 GHz, 8MB Cache

Graphics
Nvidia
GeForce GTX 750 Ti
1020 MHz
2048 MB, GDDR5

harddrive/ssd
250 GB, SSD Samsungs 850 EVO-serien
2000 GB, 7200rpm, 64MB Cache
SATA 6,0 Gbit/s
16 GB, 2x8192MB
DDR3 1600Mhz

looks good, cpu might be a bit weak tho.
Also, consider investing in a cpu cooler, watercooling AIO are cheap these days.
Not sure about the GPU, AMD may be better virtualization-wise.

I'm wondering what is crucial in botting terms. Memory bus to handle multiple games at once? AMD is better in that case.

Id take intel 4core over amd 8core even for VMs any day, 10 bots would prefer more than 16gbs of ram, more like 32gb.
But 7 seem easy with that setup

What you guys think about the I7 -5820K? It looks really solid from what ive seen with 6 cores

I'd say cpu is most important. I could run 8 on my 3770k (clocked to 4.5 ghz). maybe more but i haven't really tested it. So I'm assuming i7 4790k cpu (which is the one i'll get when i build my next rig) would be able to hold 10 pretty easy. After that everything falls in place pretty simple (ssd, 32gbs ram) as for a graphics card, might as well get a good one just in case you need ur rig to bot other games. As for a gpu with vm's, I'm still fixed on the idea that you won't need one with poe (since vm's don't use the card), some ppl say they do, but I'm going to try a botting rig next week and test my theory out and see first hand.
