Buddy Store, the prices are insane!

There are products on store, that are really overpriced, like "Keep Buffs Active" or "patto92´s" profiles. These are very simple things that almost don´t need support and are written in hours, not days.

Other problem is that store is full of sh*ts like "patto92´s" V3 and V4 (best example how to take more money from customers - instead of updating, release new profile).

Next thing is roboto´s plugin. His work is amazing, I can´t say bad word about what he did for us with random GB2, but it is really irritating for me to see store spammed with his single plugins, but imho it should be better to create one complex plugin with turn on/off things that numbers of small plugins.

Also I know how much work can take simple profile or plugin, but for me HB is about open source and community. I really want to know how some of store plugins are written and learn from theme, but cant due to closed source.

Almost really dont have a clue.

When i see coding can take me to much time i just quit, donate or buy is the best way.
But i still want learn the basics just to make some simple profiles, cuz sometimes i dont find a profile for what i want.
 
I'm 100% for high prices if it means I get a quality of service and a good product that less people will be buying because of the price, therefore less people using it making it safer.
 
some are pretty insane. almost 40 euros for a BGbot replacement??? be serious.

another issue is that with paid profiles, you have to buy a separate one for each bot you are running. OK $3 for some farming route doesn't sound too bad but what if you got 10 bots? adds up fast.

honestly the biggest problem for me with the fucking buddystore is that THERE IS NO DOWNLOAD. we can't have anything on our computer. can't edit and adjust anything. just a nightmare for the free stuff, eg Kicks gets stuck on a 101 quests and waypoints etc, tries to vendor the wrong shit, etc etc, used to be able to just open in a text editor and fix in 30 sec. no more. just now his pandaria haloween profile stopped for me because of quest phasing, with an svn download i could have fixed it in a minute, now it's a fatal error.
 
There is still svn for kick profiles and you can ask to add all your keys under same store account to use paid item in all of them

But you are generally right, just Kickś profiles are exception
 
Another aspect we have to look at is how long will the profiles be available to us? If the profile person quits playing how much longer will the profile work? Look at half the profiles now, a majority dont even work right now. If another patch is made how long will it take for it to get updated, if the person quit how long is it before a patch is added that ruins the profile? A day, a week, a month? That is a major problem the buyers have to worry about.

I use a lot of second hand keys.

I modify profiles a lot.

Sometimes I do use profiles/plugins, sometimes I don't. Streaming it all takes longer.

Open source provides a learning platform.

Etc. etc.

Every good side has a bad side and vica versa.
 
They must support things on store for 18months or until next expansion. So every stuff posted before WoD release can be left without update without any problems.
 
Really I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of quality control of what gets put up for sale, just to make sure that the community isn't going to buy a product on the store and that turns out to be rubbish. Kind of like what happens with Bot of Legends, there are some scripts that you can pay for that offer nothing more than what the free versions do and that sort of detracts from the quality of the other products available.

But I was sceptical to begin with, but that I've got from the store is great, and I'm planning on maybe picking more up at a later date.

It also stops things being flooded like what happened to the bg bots, originally you could get away with its dumb-ass actions, but these days there are 30% of your group doing the same dumb-ass actions you're going to get found out pretty damn fast.

i dont think they are over priced, a lil steep but worth it. I have all of Tuanhas, Millz portal and demonic, and Mirabis Stars and no complaints.

How is a player suppose to know when 6 months is? A player could buy a profile and a week later an update makes it unusable and since the creator quit already he doesnt have to do anything. I also doubt anyone is going to force an author to fix the code.

Actually your wrong they're binded by a legal contract joining the store is no joke.

and 18 months is a long time for 20$ or whatever. It's also about the average time between expansions. So assuming creator release their profiles on day 1 and were 18 months into the xpac and blizzard probably hasn't had a real patch in 4 months and won't until the expansion your pretty much getting the product for the life of the content.

But he is still right. We don´t know until when profile will be supported nor we have guarantee that profile will be updated after WoD.
 
Some people are actually trying to make a living, please god they succeed in doing what they love, yes it cost money, yes it was free for many years before it went for sale, I can't see a valid point you are trying to make. Nobody is forcing you to do anything, have fun using all free stuff though.
 
And if last sale is after expansion, it is still 18 months or not? Because this is not written in wiki and I see it for first time that it is not from release date but from last sale date.

Personally I am not against store, but against bad usage of store. I don´t have problem to pay for good things (ffs I 9 times more HB licences - old lifetime than I need) but I hate when I see overpriced things that I can make in 1h by myself (like I did with "Keep Buffs Active" and posted it open source here)

But you said until next expansion. That would be less than a month now. Why would next expansion be added if it didnt mean that? you also said 6 month eariler, why are saying 18 months? Are you just talking about yourself? Im not saying your stuff if overpriced or isnt going to be supported. Im just talking about the store in general.
 
As a programmer, I understand the time and frustration that goes in to making these all too well (as I've dabbled with it myself). What I don't agree with though, or understand, is how some of these developers feel justified in charging more for their additions than the actual program itself cost.
