Botting with a Battle Chest (WOTLK) account

I've seen a few people mention using battle chest accounts with level 80s to farm older herbs and ore. On the servers I play on, these tend to sell for more than mop herbs/ore, but I'm not sure how often they actually sell. Does anyone here have experience with this? I'd like to know if it is worth it or not. I play on all high-population US servers by the way.

they sell for more in parts. problem is: demand isn't high enough.
farming heavy leather 8 hours for example gives you enough for 1 week auctions.
