Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else has any luck getting the game + the bot to run properly in Sandboxie? I saw an older post by pushedx, and it appears that Exilebuddy used to run properly with Sandboxie.

The problem:

When running PoE and Exilebuddy in the same sandbox, after almost exactly 5 minutes of running Exilebuddy (including when afk and not bot not running), the Exilebuddy process will terminate. I have never had the bot crash prior to 5 minutes, or have it survive past 8 minutes. The age of the PoE process is not a factor. The PoE process is left in an indeterminate state, either frozen, inputs blocked, or unaffected. There is no error message, and there is nothing in the log file. Activity can be GrindBot, Questbot, afk in town, etc. all with the same outcome.

I think the timing is suspicious, and my guess is some periodic routine of Exilebuddy isn't running properly in my sandbox.

My setup:

Sandboxie (64bit)
- Tested with 5.14, 4.20 on Windows 10 / Windows 7 ( separate machines)
- IpcPath opened for Exilebuddy. No blocked resources as reported by sandboxies access monitor. If the IpcPath is not open, sandboxie will block the bot process at the same time the termination occurs. Opening the IpcPath does not resolve the issue.
- Copy limit raised.

Path of Exile
- Latest patch, no PoESmoother or FPS limiting software, or any other modification. Multithreading disabled, running typical settings which are accessible via client (i.e. not runescape mode).

Exilebuddy
- Stock test setup (fresh download of latest beta release), no extra plugins/modifications etc.

OS
- Tested on Windows 10, Windows 7 (both 64-bit). Also tried on fresh windows install.

Sandboxie Config:

Various Sandboxie Errors

The following errors occur a bunch of times, as reported by sandboxie:

SBIE2205 Service not implemented: ImpersonateNamedPipe
SBIE2205 Service not implemented: ConsoleInit (C00000D4)
err=41020897 ... str1= ... str2=test \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Users\Admin

Log is attached, although there are no error messages anyways.

Thanks for detailed post.
Run exilebuddy in the same sandboxie as parent poe being ran. Each sandbox needs to have EB inside it. GL.

Any updates on this?

I did all the same steps with OP and I'm also running it within the same sandbox. Bot still quits in a few minutes without any errors.

Unfortunately, it's just not supported for now. There are conflicts between the way both programs work to where either one has to make breaking changes to the product to gain compatibility.

I think there was a time when Exilebuddy could interact with a Sandboxed PoE client in older versions of SB, but that's no longer the case. The code in conflict hasn't been changed on our side for quite a while now, so we're not intentionally blocking SB.
