They will probably keep banning till the gold price goes up.

And the recent uptake of bot accounts from doubling our licences is another reason.

More people banned = more new D3 games purchased
This is not WoW where you pay monthly fee and they prefer to keep you alive so you continue the monthly payments. In diablo3 the more people they ban, the better income they get - 1. More games sold, 2. Items price increase, 3. Less gold in circulation
Their main goal is not to keep the players happy and satisfied but to have their f***ed RMAH in good condition so they can profit more, simple as that.

I laugh at Your naive bullshit, the level of loses ppl in US are sustaining right now and GMs determination with banning all accounts that are under slightest suspicion of being associated with bots leads to only one conclusion - they want us gone for good. If they wanted to make some extra money, they would restrain to banwaves every 2 weeks, to allow ppl to earn some money for new accounts. Now they are not only banning like mad all bots and mules but also probably flagging entire ip's/hardware id's, because there's to many examples of ppl who get purged entirely, and bought several fresh accounts only to be purged once more in a few days later.

This here is correct. They want us gone, forever. I am even willing to bet there are people in account security who want to make this game a case study in beating botters. This means one thing, we need to get smart, real smart. The days of big EZ money are over, were gonna have to fight for it. I for one am making my own profiles now, with my own tactics, and I have got myself setup to be less detectable.

Edit: not to say that I think 'ill evade bans, I wont, but I can make the cost/benefit ratio more in my favor. To touch on those that think blizzard incorporates income from new botter copies into the business model, think about this: Blizz has seven THOUSAND employees currently. If a single one (even lower level) were to become disgruntled and go to the press saying BLizz either bans bots to make more money or sells items in the RMAH etc etc, can you imagine the shitstorm that would ensue?? If anyone were actually doing this it would be on a single person/small group embezzlement level and not a company wide/department wide policy, A single event like this could cause a PR nightmare and result in a massive stock sell-off. I own stock in Activsion and if i read about something like this I would fucking sell everything immediately. So come to grips with the truth people, they don't want us botting, they are out to get us, and unless you really try you might not have a great profit/loss ratio. Harsh truth, but very real.

Blizzard recently hired new employees just for bot-hunting task, so i guess that those ppl trying hard to impress their superiors in new job.

Love blizzards stance on bots, it has been made way to easy for botters in the past.

i LOL @ your naivete........ they will never get rid of bots FULL STOP and they know this. so they now try to profit off bots as much as possible. wtf do u think was the WHOLE motivation behind their RMAH???? so they can profit off botters. never underestimate greed when it comes to money, especially with the HUGE amount of money we are talking about. ip's/hardware id's can all be faked.

im guessing you dont get out much.....

Of course they wont, but theres a difference between having some ppl who bot on 1 bot for several hours per day for thier own use, and large farms consisting many computers with dozens of accounts running 24/24. They cant eliminate botting just like crime can not be eliminated, but it can be reduced to bare minimum.
Furthermore, even if RMAH was developed with bots in mind guys who were dealing with RMAH creation clearly didnt talked with guys dealing with fighting bots beacuse latter clearly want to make entire enterprise unprofitable for botters.

All discussion regarding ban theories and etc should go in the ban section thread.

Seems like they're going after anyone botting multiple accounts, don't see a lot of people with single accs getting hit. Like 1 bot 1 main and similar.

And please, lets get real. Blizzard bans botters to preserve the illusion of fair play. The only real motivation they got is to avoid bad press, anything else is just a bonus.

+1 on that, matey

I've got an interesting theory about this but, I think it's worthy of its own thread. A wee bit mad perhaps but, a theory that kind of makes sense. I'll post it later.

So how much are botters population in D3? Probably around 1 % or so. But people leaving/not_buying the game because of botters as one of the reasons are much more than that.

Botters don't really bring anything good. They don't deposit money into RMAH, they don't bring in friends, they don't make the game fun for others. The only thing they do is buying license once and that's all. Also they are driving overall game economy into an abyssal.

I guess bli$$ would much rather lost that 1% (?) income from botters buying the game, but would have much casual gamer friendly looking environment in their game.

So people thinking that bli$$ banning their accounts for just getting you to buy extra 1/2/6/12 or so accounts are just plain stupid. They are putting so much effort TO GET YOU OUT OF THE GAME, NOT TO EARN YOUR COUPLE OF BUCKS.

You're probably right on all but for one count: They don't deposit money into RMAH

I only use the RMAH, and do quite nicely :)

Anyway, im only curious if they are banning mules basing on IP, or bother with more in-depth check by tracking where items from botting account gone.

^this. lots of botters use the RMAH. because it makes REAL MONEY. more than selling to the goldseller sites and safer (somewhat).

It is about money nothing else, botters re buy accounts, it is what we do.

BTW Anyone who is like screw blizzard ill stick it to them and bot more, you just give the man more power, with that $30 x (n)

Botting is not a human right. Since this game is an entertainment venture not a requirement for life. Then again I guess it goes along with the original post.
