World of Warcraft: Anti-cheating Agreement

To continue, please read and accept the Anti-cheating Agreement

In an attempt to provide all users an equal opportunity to play World of Warcraft game in a “cheat free” environment, please be aware that World of Warcraft monitors the computer that you use to access World of Warcraft for unauthorized third party programs running concurrently with World of Warcraft by performing limited scans of your computer.

By clicking on "accept" below, you acknowledge and accept that Blizzard has the right to perform the scans. If you do not agree to allow Blizzard to perform the scans, you will not be able to register an account to play World of Warcraft. More information.

now i'am afraid that Blizz (Battle.net) will find HB bot in my computer....

plz help me out!

thanx

Just because they put something in Terms of Service does NOT allow them to perform illegal actions, including scanning of your PC outside of their own memory space. The only thing that will get you caught / detected is if you actually attach honorbuddy to a WoW instance.

A good example is a company which put into their terms that you forfeit your soul upon agreeing to their ToS, obviously not legally enforceable but completely within their right to put it into the terms. http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2010/04/15/online-shoppers-unknowingly-sold-souls.html

These terms have been in the ToS forever, and if blizzard were scanning our PCs they would have been in a boatload of legal trouble already.

it scans your processes, open the task manager and see what she sees.

When I appealed my last ban the GM alluded to scanning my processes for a bot program. Would changing the name of HB help with that? For instance instead of installing to documents folder I could install it to some random place in my C drive and then rename it to Magic_Chicken or something?

Blizzard definitely doesn't scan your full process list, not unless you send it to them willingly (IE send a DX Diag due to an error), which has been done before on the official forums. And renaming a process wouldn't stop anything, the name is just there to tell basic users what the process is, an advanced user could tell Magic_Chicken was actually honor buddy.

blizzard only scans what interfaces with its own memory space.

It is amazing how these threads pop up all the time and people chime in whith what the BELIEVE Blizzard scans and what they do not scan. There are so many threads with the exact same rediculous claims and oppinions. Bottom line is this; Botting never was and will never be safe. No matter what you try to do to disguise it, or alter it, or plead your case they can and will ban any account that they want to.

Do not use an account that you don't want to lose and ALWAYS assume it is not a matter if you will be banned but when. Simple as that ...no TOS argument ...no SPECULATION as to what they can or can't scan.
