Beta Bot Questions and Concerns

I'm an old man who is not as tech savvy as individuals on here.

I'm interested in having my bot do maps. I'm told you can do maps with the current bot, but that you need to program/code/whatever an API to correspond with the wants and desires of the botter.

I'm looking to get a few choice items to help me with some builds and I'd like my bot to be able to run low level maps.

That's it... But it appears this isn't really possible without better than basic knowledge of programming?

When the new bot comes out, will old folks like me be able to run a map without needing to know how to program and such?

Also, would it be possible to get a very rough ETA on the beta ---> release version?

Thanks,

-Farsight

P.s. If anyone can help me out with that in tells/message, I'd appreciate it. An API/coding for dummies please :)

You can follow the current Beta progress and feature set in this thread. The Beta is currently usable, and any issues people have with it will tried to be taken care of as soon as possible. That way when the big update comes, people who have done some testing with the Beta know what it's going to look like.

Unless something goes horribly wrong over the next few weeks, the actual ETA for Beta->Release is on the expansion update itself, which the PoE client now has a countdown for. We might have a few days downtime to update, and I'm sure there will be a lot of bot logic that needs updating to handle the new leagues, so we'll work on adding new features and logic to the bot as time goes on after the update is done.

As for the map situation, in short, the current goal is to have basic map running logic included with the bot so users don't have to do any coding for that functionality. If the stuff we provide doesn't do what someone wants, or they want it to do more, then that is the case where programming knowledge would need to be applied. The ETA for that is just to have something working by the time the expansion comes, but hopefully sooner. Beta should now have everything setup for that logic to be easily implemented, so we'll try to get something provided to people to test in the next week or so.

When it comes to the API and doing development with Exilebuddy, we'll have some more guides and stuff in the Guides section. There's a few things to help users get started, and the new Beta stuff, but a lot of the meaty stuff will come later, when more things are finalized in the design. For now, your best bet is to take a look at all the code provided with Beta to get an idea of the bots, routines, and plugins.

Sorry to Hijack this thread, but in terms of "stable" for the beta, would one be able to run this over night type deal ? I have been thinking of coming back to this game and noticed you have been working on the pickit quite a bit and I've had a great interest in playing around with it. I would probably be looking to run it for 6-8 hours tops and hopefully its a little smoother than other bots, mapping really doesn't matter just probably docks & library.

Unlike Release, Beta has auto-relog functionality and a configurable StuckDetection plugin, so you should be able to run the bot a while without it breaking down. With that said, I've not really done any long run testing since there's still a lot of stuff to do, but I think you should be able to run Beta for long periods of time. It's certainly worth trying out, as there's nothing I can think of that would get in the way of stability. If you do run into any issues though, please report them, and we'll get it taken care of!

Take if from me. It can run 7 days a week 24/7 without crashing. if it throws an exception, it won't crash. Bot will log out, log back in and act like nothing's happened. Really amazing piece of work exilebuddy is.

Edit* Problem is how to avoid getting banned for running it so long. it's a given that botting 24/7 is the first thing that gets flagged.
