Best ways of increasing nodes/hour?

Anyone feel like giving their opinions on the best ways of increasing nodes/hour for mop herbing (not mining)?

After researching it seems to me the order would be:

1) Druid for gather w/out dismount

2) Tauren or gloves for 0.5 sec gathers

3) Plugin to keep druid from dismounting upon combat?
(The only one I found wasn't working for me, haven't messed with the code yet though)

4) Eng. goggles for super misty herb finding

5) Making own profile to reduce bot competition

6) Server pop? Mid/High yielding best results?

Now for me, I'm just finishing the semester and haven't had time to refine my own profile yet or race change to tauren/reroll tauren druids on non-druids accounts. I'm capped at ~130n/h on my druid atm, more like 110n/h on my non-druids. Anyone care to share their nodes/hour for herbing, and what you think the priority list should be for improving the numbers?

Thanks!

Edit: Forgot to add goggles. Fixed!

Edit2: forgot to mention a plugin to try to keep druid from dismounting in combat. Double fixed!!

thats about all i do and im getting more like 200 nodes/hour

Mr Item Remover plugin can reduce your trips to the mailbox or vendor by deleting the Life Spirits and Water Spirits you pick up. The increase in nodes per hour is probably not enough to make up for the loss of 12g/stack you get for vendoring them. I just do it because I'm sick of manually selling them.

The increased flight speed of a Tauren Paladin or Death Knight might be able to give your Tauren Druid a run for his money, but they have to fight mobs for nodes, so they only get an advantage if you have a route with few adds.

PC performance may have some influence as well, so run WoW at 800x600, minimize all your graphics settings, and use a program like TuneUp Utiliity to optimize your computer for gaming performance.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah all my bots are 800x600 absolute min. settings.

hgoutyt, are you getting 200 nodes/hr on a non-druid? And are you using a public profile from the GB2 forums or did you make your own?

Pally/DK 20% overall increase vs. druid not having to leave flight form is a good debate. IF I could get something working to keep the druid in flight form when attacked and attempting harvesting the node I think the druid would beat anything else on a profile with a fair amount of combat. But yeah I could try to make a profile that runs into almost no mobs if that's possible.

To anyone who has successfully made their own profiles? What is the best way to do it? I've tried using the GB2 profile creator plugin, zapitrecorder I think it's called, and try to follow the path of highest-density of nodes by checking the wowhead zone node maps while I create the waypoints. Any other tricks?

all my farmers are druids the increased herb rate from being a tauren and not having to leave flight form is pure win. I have not made my own profile but i am using one i had to purchase and it works great. ive heard simmilar results from some of the free profiles out there though. make sure you have max flying, the goggles and try to reduce how often yo have to vendor. i turned looting mobs off completely and that increased my node/hr by alot.

Thanks hgoutyt that helps me a lot, yeah I always have looting turned off. Do you use anything that allows your tauren druids to ignore combat and make a few attempts at gathering before leaving flight form to kill mobs?

nope never even knew about anything like that. heres a log from a session in progress without even having the best flying

22 kills per hour

My druid is using Druid's Harvest Helper plugin which works very well. It keeps me in flight form and flies away from mobs instead of going into combat. However, looking at the kills per hour statistic, I don't think I'm avoiding that much combat as a Druid. There must be a lot of mobs by mining nodes on my route.

edit: to clarify, all the kills on my druid are for mining nodes. If I did only herb nodes, I would probably have less than 5 kills per hour, but I'd be missing out on around 75 mining nodes per hour.

Thanks for the input theoryaction!

I tried the druid harvest helper plugin, thought I remembered it bugging out and not attacking mobs at all if it was forced to dismount after 5 gather attempts. I'll definitely try it again and pay better attention.

I'm just doing herbalism/inscription now on different realms, so don't have the chars for mining shuffle stuff. I thought I read of people getting 200+ nodes per hour with just herbalism on tauren druids even post-nerf. Maybe this was misinformation. Thanks!

But if you did spend less time killing and mining would you get more herbs to make up for the shortfall.
