Battleground bots out of control, should something be done?

Agree with this entirely. It's an infected limb. Cut it off. However, the counter argument is that other bot producers will simply take on the flux of customers that desire BG Botting, essentially resulting in no change but a shift of money.

With that shift of money comes a shift of targetting as well then. Since its not hb that has the botbase, but someone else.

And yes, have to agree entirely:

Right now it sticks out like a sore thumb and as a result the entire bot is being targeted.

Agree with this entirely. It's an infected limb. Cut it off.

The change would be that whatever bot rose up to fill the void would be the one being targeted instead of HB, which is exactly the objective in the first place. The question is would Bossland be willing to take that hit, I would argue that a banwave would be far more destructive to their business than the loss of people who would go elsewhere to find an AFK battleground bot.

Of course, I am not naive enough to think that solving the BG bot problem would mean HB is suddenly given a free ride, but it would remove the imperative and immediate need for Blizzard to try and take Honorbuddy down. None of the other forms of botting are contributing to such public discontent with the state of the game.

Just improving BGBuddy wouldn't be enough, the number of people using bots in battlegrounds has reached critical mass. This can only end badly unless something is changed, and soon.

Blizzard stopped caring about PVP Players expansions ago. This is the reason BG Bots are not banned as much as they should be. BG Botting is the least of HB's worries.

Sorry but you haven't got a clue what you are talking about. They hired a dev dedicated specifically to PvP, they are doing more to support user run tournaments (adding spectator mode), and releasing an entire zone dedicated to PvP in Warlords of Draenor. The reason they don't ban bots as much as they should is because it's logistically impossible to follow up on all the reports and actually verify them.

Please don't post if you have nothing sensible to contribute.

Its actualy their biggest problem. You clearly dont know what u r talking about.

Its per se IN bg's that bots are noticed and ruining the gameplay for dozens of others.

Its there where the QQ is at, in game and on the forums. In the present and in the past.

Just cause blizzard isnt handeling that problem like they should, with the warden update, they might just do this.

Whenever this argument comes up people always seem to give way to much credit to real players and real players who multi-box.
Real players cap the wrong gys.
Real players afk.
Real players run into walls.
Real players try over and over to cap a flag, die, rez and return.

I watch my 8 year old son play Call of Duty on the Xbox all the time. Any time a player is super bad.. or super good he is absolutely certain they are a "hacker".

Being non-average does not make you a bot. And that is why I don't think there is anything like an "epidemic" of botters in BGs... yet the perception lives on.

"REAL PLAYERS" do not run in a straight line from point A to point B directly behind 24 other "REAL PLAYERS" running the exact same line from point A to point B though, do they?

Probably not.... but a multi-boxer might / does.

Lmao. There is NO bg at all, and i mean NO bg after 10 pm that hasnt got 80+ % bots! And this untill 6-7 am in the morning.

If you fail to see that botting in bg with bgbuddy has gotten out of controll you are completely blind.

But hey, its rng that 99 % of the bg's you join after 10 pm are IoC or Sota.

I'm too afraid to use BG bot ..its like you say "too easy to spot the bot"

I've been playing this game long enough to know when something is an epidemic.

I already predicted there would be a step up in the effort to detect Honorbuddy in the first post which was made just over a month before the first tripwire. Do you think I have an inside line to Blizzard or something? No, I just have my finger on the pulse, I follow the Twitters of devs, I follow the official forums, I play battlegrounds and see what people are saying in chat, I see the problems myself, it is obvious to anyone with two eyes to see.

I already made my next prediction, let's see if the HB devs are smart or if they just wait for the shit to hit the fan before doing anything.

Im in favor of shutting the BG bot down then to be honest ..its really risky and pisses people off

You are talking about small improvements vs whole expansions devoted to PvE. So like 10% vs 90%. Tell me they didn't give up on it with those kinds of statistics.

Small improvements that in relation to recent history represent a substantial increase, so your argument that they have given up is demonstrably false. WoW is a PvE game first and foremostly, but to imply they do not take PvP seriously or that cheating in PvP is not one of their major concerns is simply advertising ignorance.

My biggest Problem with BG-Bot is, that you can see who is botting too. All Honorbuddy bots are waiting at the same spots :D

Don't know how to change it... Write my own profile? ... :o

You can't change it, it is HB Meshes, the way it navigates from one place to another. This is the major issue.

Also, a recent tweet from the PvP dev Holinka: https://twitter.com/holinka/status/490374507563986945

@Forcebalance @oliviadgrace @Shadesogrey In the US and EU, the number of people doing random battlegrounds is as high or more than LFR.

And since there is nobody on the forums complaining that someone used a bot to defeat a dragon I think the argument is fairly irrefutable.

Anyway, this will be my last post. I hope I don't have to make another one.

Wait... a major video game developer continues to try and stop botting... and you predicted it? You sir are a GOD AMONG MEN.

We must bet getting radically different BGs. I block Strand but out of the 40 in ICO the highest number of enemy bots I see is ~10. More usually it's less. I wish there were more... would make getting 2000 Bloody Coins much easier. Certainly you'll see / kill the same bots over and over.

No, from the start you can see em piling up. And if thats not enough, the portal when gate closes. But not only in those, in all others as well.

Maybe you need to learn how to spot a bot cause its obviously an issue for you?

U saying i wish there where more ....makes 2000 coins.... etc, tells me this convo is over. You only look at it from your positive perspective. You dont
see it as a problem cause it doesnt concern you. Newsflash, IF blizzard updates Warden to target HB harder, it will concern you. And the problem most
likely started with all the QQ about pvp bots. PvP is bigger then u think, and with the example of no one crying about someone killing a dragon with a bot
you got your answer. The Pvp community complains, hard, and they are heard. Always!

And u know what, i dont even use bg buddy. But i do realize that it is a problem and if nothing is done, it will target more people then just those botting in bg.

The problem is that for a first time user of Honor Buddy, initially the BG buddy included looks decent. Thus it will be used heavily. In my opinion there are some "easy" fixes to mend the situation. I agree with OP in that this might be something very detrimental to the botting community since it might bring Blizzard to a threshold. One of the things should be some random pathing to avoid the bot train. The other should be a blend of defense and offense. And something that would prevent you from looking like a bot from the get-go (countdown). Since HB is a product that we pay for, I believe we as customers can expect blatant erronous profiles to be either improved or removed.

I know its not for everyone but the way I got around it was to create 5 accounts and dungeonbuddy with them convert JP to HP then get your gear. It's a tad more expensive but the risks are considerably less, and you don't annoy one person in WOW so to the original poster I think that's what we are looking for are we not? Once your toon is geared transfer it to your main if that's why you levelled them.

It's a win win for everyone I have levelled 12 90's and geared them in full grievous in the last month or so and transferred 3 of them to my main to complete one of each toon. Also made some good coin from farming heroics as well. Just another option.

yeah, because botting in BGs is f*cking stupid.

i'm fine with botting of professions, harvesting materials, archeology or using CR - all this stuff is understandable by other guys and usually they don't report you. also kicks profiles to get 90 and don't pay to blizzard for it is cool. but BGs/Dungeons - where is direct interaction with human players is very risky and you (your bot) can simply ruin whole game experience of others in the group..
