Have i got anything to worry about since I am being forced to download the new Battlenet Login page? I Can't run more than 1 account with it now. Also wanted to know if they can scan my hard drive and locate honorbuddy?

If you are referring to the Bnet launcher your don't need to use it just keep opening your wow.exe

I mean they could, but is risking a class action lawsuit really worth stopping a few botters? Theoretically they could do alot of illegal things to improve the game... but they are a publicly held company.

My opinion is that they don't scan anything (please don't hurt me frosti *joking* )

If they did, there is no reason to give $600,000 + way more fees to lawyers, GMs, etc. just to combat botters (they could just scan instead of fighting in court)
Also, there are people using the bot since its release and have never been banned (they should have been banned if blizz scanned)

The risk of getting caught scanning someone's PC (it will be in the news everywhere on gaming sites etc) will destroy their game/their business.

i feel its similar to real world mechanics.

lets say the cops wanna find a criminal, link them to a crime
but they need fingerprints to see if a lead is worth chasing.
three options, get the suspect to volunteer their prints, get a warrant, or discover their prints on a discarded object such as a cigarette butt or soda can.

now the first one works because we give them permission to a limited search, like, hey, you can search under the couch and behind the curtains, but not in the bedroom. if by chance they find fingerprints in the bedroom they are not allowable as evidence because they were found outside the permitted area. however, the evidence is there, found and identified and will motivate the detective to build a case on existing permitted evidence. this happens every single day in real life. its whats called a loophole. they cannot use the illegally found evidence in the case against the suspect, but they can use it internally to advance their case.

Blizzard openly states in their TOS they can ban you for whatever reason they want or no reason. Just terminate your account, they dont even need evidence.
Back to the real world, they've been sued before, they cant scan outside wows memory, privacy laws and all. It would be near impossible to hide it and people would class action just to earn money, lawyers would be lining up offering services for free lol.

You like real world comparisons, i'll play ball. Cops and criminals, cops have to follow laws and rules set by society, criminals don't. In this case, blizzard are the cops, bossland the criminals.
