Okay,
So there has been alot of talk lately about HB being detectable and banwaves etc. etc.
There hasn't any real banwave since around 2006. There have been a few mini-waves but nothing on the scale it was then.
Blizzard bans 30,000 World of Warcraft accounts
59,000 WOW accounts banned
and the daddy of them all
Blizzard bans 105,000 WoW Accounts
They still ban a few hundred at one time here and there but yeah, nothing like it was back in the days of OB and Glider. And that's not saying all bans were because of only those 2 programs of course.
You can take 2 things away from this:
1. The bots are just better and less detectable.
2. They care less about botting in general.
1. While the bots are tenfold better now than they used to be, i say bots because contrary to popular belief there is more than 1 public bot and there are still plenty of private bots aswell, the fact of the matter is that Blizz could shut down, at the very least suspend, most bots with simple algorithms and auto-scripts. Having an undetectable bot is not the same as having undetectable pathing for instance.
2. My own personal opinion and everyone has one, is that they care less now than they did then. Maybe care less isn't quite correct but more tolerant of them as long as they don't impact real players enjoyment of the game or are detrimental to their gameplay.
There will always be player reports since there will always be Bot Hunters aswell as people using the same profiles as others so even non Hunters see them running the same patterns over and over. There will also be people that get pissed at others for undercutting on the AH and report on the off chance they are a bot, GMs investigate and another ban.
Starting to ramble but the main point was to point out to people what a Banwave actually looks like as opposed to a few hundred getting banned for various reasons.
Edit: Bold sentences are links incase it wasn't obvious...for whatever reason.
