Banning based on IP/Name/Credit Card

So I have been thinking about getting a 2nd account (and maybe 3+).

I have been researched bans based on IP, Name, and Credit Card.

I know that nobody outside Blizzard really knows how they ban, but I am curious if people know of cases where they banned multiple accounts based on IP, Name or Credit Card.

From what I have gathered, I don't think they ban based on IP, you can use a fake name for your Battle.net account, but I am curious if they ban based on Credit Card (both used to purchase the game and the monthly subscription).

To get around this, we use game cards available at stores and such to pay for subscription time. Not sure if they look for this when banning but I assume that it would be a great method to ban people.

Oh that makes sense. So do most people buy the game from retail stores as well? It looks like they are more expensive in retail stores than online through Blizzard.

Personally, i'd use a Valid name to go on the accounts. You ever had them ask for ID before unlocking a account before?

If you use your real name though, wouldn't they notice you have like 5 accounts, and 3 of them are banned?

Well I never thought of them asking for an is but think about this go on Google or facebook and type in your name first and last and let me know if you even see urself within the hundreds of others who sharethe same name..

i have 3 wow accts all on the same bnet acct along with my d3.

last week my d3 acct was banned for botting but my 3 wow accts (that were botting at the same time) werent banned. im sure they just do it on an acct by acct basis. (ie. the accts they actually catch cheating). no point them banning an acct that is only linked by name/cc info if it hasnt been caught cheating.. then they would just be throwing money away.

Anyone got experience with the IP thing? Would suck to get a ban for that

Nah, in some countries, even whole districts share same IP, and alot of dorms, cafes around the globe do it too.
They actually check if you run the accounts from same computer machine.

You can make anonymous visa cards for ?5. At least in most banks.
Takes 5 mins at the banks cashier to give you one.
I went ahead and made 5 of them.
Now each account gets payed with a different visa card.
Cheap problem to solve really.

As for the IP, the IP dont matter, what does matter (from what i have researched) is the MAC address of your ethernet card.
In this case VirtualBox is your friend. https://www.virtualbox.org/

I've gotten probably fifteen accounts banned over the last two years and from my experience, they don't necessarily ban simply based on IP. Now, with that said, I have literally watched as many as three bots get disconnected at the same time while all the other bots I was running at that time continued to run, meaning they were all banned simultaneously. They really only seem to actually ban based on in-game connectivity so if all your accounts use separate guild banks and never connect with each other in any way, even if they are on the same battlenet, they may get banned at different times but I would assume having the same IP does put the other accounts that are on the same IP on some sort of "watch list" that they keep a close eye on for suspicious activity. As far as the credit card issue goes, I doubt they BAN based on credit card numbers, considering that's a lot of income they would lose but again, it could cause your accounts to be put on a "watch list". I don't think having the same name on the accounts would even cause them to be put on a "watch list" because if they did, their "watch list" would be absolutely flooded with accounts that have no reason being on there, other than the name is "John Smith" or whatever. Hope this helps and good luck. PS: I've had up to ten accounts botting at once before, back in Cata, and it's a very fun thing so good luck expanding.

Why would they want to ban you based on credit card or name? Every time they ban you and you want to come back you have to buy the game, four expansions, and a new subscription. Seems like they'd be getting the worse end of the deal if they banned you by name/credit card/IP. Using your credit card or real name might assist them in tracking your future accounts to bring the banhammer down upon, though.

What about if you are constantly trading gold and items to your main account or to a shared guild bank?

I would be more concerned about MAC adress / hardware ID / installation ID.

Would VMware work for this as well with the IP?

With VMware is like have a different PC mate. You can also buy 1-2 wireless usb ethernet cards, they cost like 6-7 euros just so you dont even use the same ethernet card.
Then you can add a V P N on each of your VM profiles and is like a completely different pc.

The catch is that VMware uses a shit load of a RAM to use.
Minimum 2gb RAM (when i say minimum I mean to have it run with no problems what so ever, you can run it with 500mb ram but would you run windows 7 with only 500 on a normal PC, and keep in mind that your CPU is already running its normal windows) just for the VMware to be used, not including other software running with in the VMare.
So if you want to run wow with it you need to take into consideration your PC hard ware.

RAM is cheap, get a motheboard that can hold up to 32gb ram and go nuts heh.

This is a good read btw
