Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Unauthorized Cheat Programs ("Hacks")

This account was closed because one or more characters were identified using an unauthorized cheat program, also known as a "hack." These programs provide character benefits normally not achievable in the World of Warcraft. If this person is telling the truth (Not saying you are not) then this is catagoricial evidence that HB is detectable.

^No it is not, you are dumb. If HB was detectable then they would hit us with a ban wave, not onesies and twosies. Believe me, you would know if it is a ban wave.

Im not lying, im in the process of trying to get my account back..

Though seriously timeline is accurate.

2 months non account use, activated it today, got honorbuddy downloaded, installed my routines, loaded it up.

Today is my sisters bday, so I called her and was talking to her for a bit, came back wow was disconnected, I didnt even have HB running it was just
sitting there ready to go I was going to use lazyraider to run a raid on my dk.

Well got back it was disconnected try to reconnect no go said the account was closed, I loaded up website, showed my account banned, went to email had the email in my inbox
I was like wtf how ?

So im at a loss to why or how it happened when clearly I wasnt running it.

They do in fact ban you for previous violations. They just waited for you to add a subscription to ban your account. You just got troll by Blizzard man, sorry for your loss.

They ban by delay, it is also known that they wait until you add game time I.E only bans an active account.

You should easily be able to get it back. Although, I do find it suspect that you were ready to raid on your DK after being gone for 2 months.

Not saying that you're wrong, or right...but think about this from a business perspective. What do most botters do when they get banned? They just buy a new account. If everyone believes "oh, it was just player reports" then no big deal, better luck next time. You buy the new account, Blizzard gets money and keeps their subscriptions high.
But what if there was a ban-wave and EVERYONE was banned? Would we buy new accounts? Nope, because we would assume that it would just be detected and banned again. Blizzard would lose out on money that would have been spent on new accounts, and their subscription numbers would drop. Also, keep in mind that an all-out ban-wave would confirm to everyone that honorbuddy is detectable. The devs would figure out how, make the changes needed, and Blizzard would have start over again trying to detect it.

Just a theory, and something to think about. How well have their prior ban-waves worked to eliminate botters from the game?

Id be inclined to agree demonspawnn but further to what you said it may not be an appropriate time for a banwave right now. It may also be plausable it is better to wait for certain times of the quarter so it doesnt affect their invester reports (We are at the end of march remember)

That's a good point. It would be interesting to know the dates of all the ban-waves they have done in the past.
I'm not saying that I think Honorbuddy IS detected, but it is a possibility. "If it was detected we would all be banned" isn't a good enough defense, especially if you really think about it.

I will say though, most of my bans used to be "exploitation of economy" bans which are usually easy to reverse. In the past two months, every single one of my bans have been "unapproved third party programs", which I have never been able to get reversed.

Ditto they all used to be exploit and now all hacks and 3rd party

if there is an incremental ban effort underway with a goal of maximizing new box sale revenue in the process, it would also make sense to use long-established accounts on botting forums to be obnoxious and say 'there is no ban wave' every time someone tries to offer a correlation between increased ban reports and possible detection/action changes at blizzard. There have been posters on this forum the last several weeks who certainly meet the 'obnoxiously post in every thread that there is no banwave.'

I would not be surprised if bot and goldseller replacement accounts were well over half of new box sales.

Not a bad theory at all, just ban everyone once, most of them will be willing to pay for the game again, especially gold sellers. Easy way for Blizz to make double revenue off of botters, and something I would consider as well if I was in Blizz's place. Anyways, I decided to cancel my 5 subs and take a hiatus until the ban wave settles down. Back to Eve (though legimately, not botting that game, heh).

LOL. It is absolutely a bad theory. Even if there were 20 new bans a day (there aren't), that would be such a small amount of revenue for blizzard to play financial games with. "Maximizing new box sales", what a load. Some of you are just hyper-sensitive because the phrase "ban-wave" keeps getting tossed around all willy-nilly. Sorta like sitting in a hospital waiting room and thinking the whole world must be sick because so many people are in there. Each new report in this forum becomes evidence supporting your "ban-wave" theory. Blizzard automates nearly everything. Bans included. So now you're saying this system is "randomly picking a small amount of people using some kind of database script". Smh.

I didn't say that I definitely believe this theory, it's just a theory. One that is definitely possible, but unproven. Blizzard HAS to know by now that they will never completely remove bots from the game. The have to manage it though, so they ban accounts here and there. Whether it be player reports, detection of the bot, or some way of recognizing patters, they do it. You can say "no, that is NOT how they do it" all you want, but the truth is none of us really know and the ones that do aren't about to tell us. The theory we were talking about above may be unlikely, but it IS a possibility and certainly makes sense from a business point-of-view.

Also, you think that there aren't 20 new bans a day? There are probably many times that number of bans every day. For one, not everyone that uses Honorbuddy uses the forums. Out of all those that do, not everyone report their bans. I don't understand the hostility some people have when it comes to bans on these forums. You, nor I, have any concrete information about how Blizzard does things. It is all speculation, but thinking about what they MIGHT be doing can help us.

In the past whenever Blizzard was able to detect a bot they have done a ban wave. With them losing subscriptions, I would be shocked to see a true ban wave unless they're damn near 100% positive that it won't take out accounts due to false alarm. IMHO: Right now it looks like they've found a way to identify certain botting behaviors, but they definitely don't trust it to be fool proof at this point.
