As the title says, is the ban ip based or not? Is there anyone that can actually confirm that his/her *cleanned* accounts got banned together with *botted* accounts? or is it safe to start again using the same ip? It would be helpfull to have an update from the devs as to were we stand now and how they actually detected the bot.

I wish i knew the right thing to say when it comes to this question, but i think that they havent got us IP tracked. They still want to make money on us!

Very good observation! I was wondering the same thing because if we do bot again, is our IP blacklisted for an insta perma ban if detected.

Taller, only Trion knows how they ban, although it seems they do care about more than just your IP for tracking accounts (and rebooting a modem is usually an easy way to change that).

To be safe, before you start on a new account change your MAC and HWID, and use a proxy for connecting or at least change your IP (just hope you're not paying extra for a static IP).

Use a VPN. Find one that has a number of different servers in the state (or at least timezone) of texas (where the rift servers are) and subscribe. When you want to change your IP, use a different server.

I have started a new account not been playing much the few hours each day, not hardcore, and have not been banned yet, probably have been watched though, im guessing they have some way of actually detecting wether an account uses a bot or not, As im still active on the new account.

What do you think would happen if I had a clean Account on my main PC and a botted one on my Laptop (both wireless)

If I got banned on the booted Account on my Laptop, do you think I would get a ban on the clean account on the PC?

Also, what about sending the plat and stuff on my booted to my main, do you think the chances of getting banned on both are high?

i should imagine if they can tell the difference between the botted accounts and you send the none botted account something from the botted account that will probably get both accounts banned.

not really what if you gave someone in your guild something from a botted account would they ban that? doubtful, could just lander the cash on ah. high priced goods on the account wanting cash and the acount getting rid of of the cash has a brain fart and "loses" its money :P

i know people who lost clean accounts botting on the same computer. strangly i botted one account for a couple of hours, 2 maybe 3 hours, and botted another constantly. the constant one got banned and the second only got a 24hr. so its all very strange and not at all predictable

I suspect that they wouldnt necessarily be able to do that. The ToS do not state that the agreement is between User and Trion but Account User and Trion.

That was how i got my 24hr ban and 3 day reverting of my char reversed.

The subject is very interesting to me nonetheless. Qeustion: what about all those botted accounts that were Ebayed? did all of those buyers get banned? if not... then it is completely based on YOUR computer. If they did, then wouldnt they be pissed? And did all of you who sold them give money back or disclose the fact they were illegally botted?

I also havent heard of any other Bots being banned to this degree. Most of those were individuals who were busted by unanswered PMs from GMs.

I think that if they IP based banned for this, they would be entering a realm of possible legal issues. If I hack and bot... does my wife's account get banned? What about roommates, dormmates?

theres a difference between tradeing to an account you own and benefitting from botting than tradeing to the general public from a botted account, I believe you will get banned on 2 accounts if your two accounts benefit from botting, where as no they will not ban another persons account for purchasing from a botter due to them haveing no knowledge of where the item/gold comes from.

Ok they most likely dont ban accounts based solely on IPs but they do have them logged during each login so just keep that in mind. They may not ban you but they will know the last account you used from that address was banned for botting.

remember you can bounce your IP, programs like easy hide and IP hider are easy to find.... just make sure you don't get a chinese IP!

It's been established elsewhere on this forum they also use MAC or HWID or both as well as your IP, so IP hiding alone doesn't matter.
