I have two account. My "main" account and my "bot" account.

I never bot on my main account, ever. However, given that the two will share the same IP and such, I wonder if I am risking my main account when botting on my bot account.

Are there any good tricks for protecting myself?

Perhaps running my bot in VMware using a free VPN service?

Any tips from experienced botters would be appreciated! ;)

usually the only thing that you need to do is not associate them (ie: trade / sell / buy etc).

Most ppl run bot acct on a seperate PC and thats "good enough" for most

You will receive mixed responses on this issue. Using a VPN/Virtual PC for the bot account is a good idea, but there are also believers that Blizz scans MAC addresses and/or Hardware IDs as well. I'm not sure if the Virtual PC assigns a different Hardware ID/Mac address but there are other programs you can use to *spoof* the MAC address too.

I personally have botted my 2 farmer accounts and my main account all on the same PC with no VPN for about 10 months with no suspensions or bans. My biggest tip is use common sense.
