Is it worth it ? I believe there was some bonus to exp and so on, but never really tried auto follow.
Not really sure what is the bonus exp and does it actually pay off ? How does the bots behave in party, are there a lot of problems or is it worth giving a shot ? Back in my days we only flied solo, never really got the chance to test autofollow plugin, perhaps someone that did can share some pros/cons so it is easier for everyone to decide for season 9 :D

How does it work when one of the party members dc and we use reloger ?

You lose efficiency in grs, better to solo bot for xp. You gain 10% xp for having 2 people in the party but the leader will always wait for the follower to catch up, tp to town, everything. So you lose time. Adding 30 seconds to gr runs that you do in 3:30 is pretty poor for efficiency, however its good for regular rifts.

At the start of a new season loot sharing with multiple accounts is nice. Mid season you can have one account run ubers while your main runs grs for xp. Then put them together to leach uber realms.

Outside of that its not worth it.

If you want higher gems just make a support class and find games in clans / communities.

I was doing 82-83s pretty easily in Season 7 using ZDPS Monk, ZDPS Barb, 2 FireBat WDs. I had about the same result running 3 monks and 1 barb (although I didn't do much testing with generator monks, mainly LTK). Other testers have had a lot of luck mixing Archon+LonBomb or Archon+WD for the DPS side of the equation. Same general GR level, mid 80s or so.

There are people running solo bots that get to or above those levels. Most notably the LonBomb Crusader with people getting into the mid to high 80s... With my 4-bot, I tend to top out around 130-150 bil XP/hr during seasons which is enough for me.

Personally, I prefer to have 4 bots running when my gear gets to endgame level, that way I can actually find upgrades nearly daily. It also affords the opportunity to run multiple classes and power level and power gear other bots up. You can also use 4 bots to run split bounties. It's not as efficient as 4 people running manually, but its way faster than botting them solo.

Either way, every season can present different challenges. When the Energy Twister wizard was a thing, it was massively better to run 4 bots on that META [200-250 billion xp/hr].

It's really up to personal preference. If you get bored once your solo bot is geared and it never has much else to do, multiple bots are great. If you want the least amount of work, solo can be much better.

FYI I just noticed that there is an anniversary sale. Only $20 for Diablo and the RoS Expansion. $10 each if you just need to the expansion to D3.
