[ANSWERED] equiping "wrong" weapon?

Hello,

Leveling an Arms Warrior of for some reason it equiped a two handed staff instead of two handed axe, staff is higher damage, but int and stamina instead of strength and stamina for the axe, but should it really do that?

At [16:45:36.564 N] HB turns in a quest, selects the staff as reward and equips it.

[16:45:48.856 N] [AutoEquip] Equipping item Staff of Fiery Fate (http://www.wowhead.com/item=56662) instead of Battle Slayer of the Eagle (http://www.wowhead.com/item=3199) (slot: MainHand) - it scored 265.00 while the old scored 190.00​

If you compare the two weapons, the Staff does about 35% more damage in a Warrior's hands, despite the +INT buff. It is the better weapon.

It appears Honorbuddy made an appropriate choice here.

Correct choice, I would say not. How many warriors do you see run around with a staff? It just screams auto-equip.

so even if HB didn't di anything wrong, i would say it still got it "wrong"

Its kinda hard to believe any credible player would turn down a 35% damage increase because one of the stats "doesn't look right". But nevertheless, if you do not agree with AutoEquip's decisions, you can either:

• Turn it off and manage things manually, or
  
  
• Alter the weightsets it uses to make its decisions.
  You can find the weightsets in the .../Honorbuddy/Data/Class Profiles/ folder.

Because you do not agree with AutoEquip's decisions, does not in any way make what AutoEquip is doing is 'wrong'.

It wasn't the stats I questioned, it was the fact that it chose to equip a staff over a two-handed axe that I think makes it look suspicious.

As in, how often do you see a warrior of any kind use a staff?

But I'll follow your advis ean look at the wdightsets. Is it possible to tell autoequip to only equip certain kinds of weapons?

So that I can tell it to on an Arms Warrior to ONLY equip two handed sword, axes or maces?

if i have to choose between 2 weapons,dmg would be the main criteria

All the devs are correct. It doesn't matter what it looks like. I've worn all sorts of things on my toon, even before I found Honorbuddy and AutoEquip. Sure, it might look silly, but when leveling you're just looking for raw stats. A 35% damage increase is very nice. However, what I've done for you is made a replacement weight set for Arms warrior that you can put into the weight sets instead of the old Arms warrior weight set. It has negatives on Int, Dex, and Spirit so that it will negatively impact your gear choices if those things have any non warrior stat on it. So, it should equip things that only a warrior would equip (i.e. +STR items). There is nothing you can do about the weapon type. AutoEquip doesn't technically work like that. It's based off of raw stat weights, not appearance.
