Am I doing something wrong? (optimization thread)

To preface my question, I started botting at the beginning of November after all my friends quit and I lost all interest in my otherwise high end-ish character. However I see drastic differences in my weekly income and the reported monthly income by other botters in various threads.

What I currently run:

1) Single character/bot capable of stomping MP1, currently paragon level 70. DB stats show about 250k gold/hour.
2) Active 12 to 14 hours a day, simulating at least a bit of human behavior (sleep time).
3) Profile is the standard giles/rads/a3 champ hunting.

How much I currently profit:

I estimate a paltry 100 EUR/month for this first month of active botting. This week (week 3 of my first month) has been especially dry, but maybe week 4 will be better? In any case, this is nowhere even close to reports from other botters, even disregarding obvious troll posts.

Questions to more experienced botters:

1) If I don't really care about that account anymore, should I go for the 24/7 approach? Do a lot of you get away with it?

2) Do you get your income from steady small sales or a handful of "big breaks" each month? So far I've had most success with my gold selling (regular batches of 15 mil gold, nothing impressive), but this will hardly catch me up to other botters.

3) Is there an average "life expectancy" of a bot, or is it all just luck? Is a single bot, running a hand-leveled to paragon 50 character with hundreds of legit hours behind him safer in any way?

4) Any chances of getting advance warnings and saving/selling my equipment before a ban, or it just happens out of the blue? Also, any experience with appeals like "my account was hacked, I had nothing to do with this"?

Thank you beforehand for any clues to improve my botting.
