All depends on what V.P.N we use/have. If you use something like hidemyass or other public this is really really stupid. The only good way is buying VPS+many ip's and config v.p.n connection's.

Long time ago I use few times public v.p.n (uk ip) and I lvl new acc after 2 days(~50lvl) I got banned WTF?(I never got banned when i lvl acc's) and ban was for "Abuse Of Economy" I write ticket 1-2h after I got reply GM tell me something like:
You probably use v.p.n connection and this IP is marked because was used to hack\exploit. Ofc I got unbanned. After 2 day I got again banned and unbanned after ticket. I had this few times and later I changed ip...

If you must use a VPN, it's far better to use a VPS. With a VPS, you'd get a better connection, private IP and it's also cheaper.

I doubt they do perform manual investigation, when flagged multiple botting accounts, running concurrent from the same machine.

From my own experience, they were ALWAYS hitting only these, online when the AoE ban is deployed. But it could be manual too, right.

Because they never touched the "non-botting" accounts - aka my 5 crafter accounts, which were botting only casually - for weekly LFR, some daily quest, scenario, casual kicks leveling, etc. but had all their focus on the all kind of gold-farming accounts - PP rogues, GB2 farmers, suicide dungeon gold-farmers.

#8: I have not read for AoE ban for botting on single account, usually seeing them for multiple accounts. Maybe Im wrong.

But since then, such account is flagged, and already have "bad history record" server side ... so the botting flags would come faster than expected!

Definitely - one of the few AoE bans on my trade accounts are just from this kind of gold-transfer with the chinese. Mostly, because they use trivial items on AH, which usually cost few silvers, but get "sold", 10 pieces for 18359g each, for example.
