So im doing EVERYTHING i can to distance this from my main account. Im curious if using the same password is an issue? id imagine out of millions of players some folks have the same passwords, and ill go with something different if necessary.

Ultimately my question is - can blizzard even SEE your password? If so, is it worth using a different one even though it will be a different email, a different account, a different mac/hwid, a different IP etc etc?

Would the same password trigger any kind of association? Ive got a bad memory so im trying to keep things as smiple as possible :P

They CLAIM that they have no access to it, and most companies in fact do not have direct access to the plain text version of your password. What they do have is a hashed version that can be tested against (they have to store something so you can authenticate). So technically yes, they can see your password, well the hash of it, and the same exact password, i.e. same capitalization, spelling, special characters would create the same hash.

That being said, sorry but I dont have a clue on whether or not having the same password would trigger any kind of association between accounts. I know that out of the 6 accounts I run on a regular basis (1 main and 5 bots), I have never had more than one account banned at a time. All 5 of my botting accounts are on the same machine (no virtuals), with no IP redirect, and no mac hiding, as my main account. All 5 accounts share the same password (my mains is obviously different), and they are all in parties together quite frequently. Yes, I understand that I am quite lucky in this regard, but this is just my observations.

Long time ago I worked on a web game that had a lot of people creating multiple accounts to push the others. This was exactly one of the ways I used to help find them; Checking password hashes. As they would often use exactly the same password across a dozen accounts. Pretty much any information I could get from the client like browser string, etc were all used for comparison purposes. None were considered "definitive proof", but each added to the evidence.

aaah both very good replies! Concrete evidence in this regard is tough to come by i guess, one way or the other.

I guess it would be smart of me to change the password just in case.

Im not sure if a new IP is required since its being ran on a different machine which could very well be another family member, room mate etc. Although having them even LOOK in that direction is a scary thought. Safe > sorry but at the same time, how much extra work do you want to put into that sort of thing.

Anyhow, happy holidays guys!

I recently did the same thing - this was my setup.

Main Account
Only accessed on my primary machine. Never been botted on.

5x Dungeon Farming Account
Accessed on my dungeon farming machine.
All run at the same time, same dungeon, RAFed, same guild,
All on same battle.net
No VPS
No VPN
No VM
Same IP as main, did WoD 10-day Trial together.

Mule Account
Accessed on a third separate machine
Fresh Account, created at the same time as others but on a different battle net.
Same IP as main.
Only contained Level 1s who are the guild master of each guild.

So pretty much I have the 5x dungeon farmers all in the same guild with the MULE account Level 1 being the master.
At the end of each day, I create a new Guild Bank and a new Level 1. I deposit cloth / items / gold to the bank.
Depending on what I'm farming, the bank will get full of items every 100k - 500k gold.

My last team lasted about 3.5 weeks before they got banned. Made about 2M liquid gold and have enough Embersilk cloth for 10k bags :)

Main and mule accounts were not touched. I've already spent about 200k of that gold on my main.
To transfer the gold back to my main, I just have a character on my main become the master of the botted guild.
