Had 4 24x24's lined up today. And 8-10 16x16's.... the sting. Oh well, not complaining considering bots do all my work for me :P

As a programmer this is one of the most frustrating questions you can ask. I absolutely hate when people ask me the progress on whatever I am working on. By asking me what the progress is, you just made it take longer. There is no point in asking what the progress is. Is knowing its half way there going to make you start using it sooner? No.

he aleady answered and as u can see he will release within a few hours. so it helped me.
 
He and I replied at the same time. He didn't answer YOU though. He was just updating his status because he reached a new stage in the development process. This is just for the future. Don't pester him. Let him do what he does.

I agree.. It's as annoying as someone knocking at the door while you're doing your business "DID YOU FINISH POOPING?!?CAN I COME IN?MATE?HELLO?"
 
It's a simple case of asking as a customr how it's going, he said between 8-42 hours, and look he'll b releasing soon. That's part of work, you work and talk to your clientele about how progress is going. I highly doubt you're a professional like you say, as atleast in any office, if you told a customr over the phone to piss off, you'd get nothing but backhanded by your manager.
 
If I worked directly with customers that would really suck. I hate talking to idiots. I let the functional and project managers take care of talking to the customers. I sit in meetings with the customers so I hear what they want, but I just do the coding I'm told to do.

The problem is that project status reports are worthless. I give you the estimated time I think it will be done, and I get it done within that time. You ask me how it's going and I purposely make it take longer but still within my time frame I gave you. It's a silent protest.

I think Out is making good informing people about the state of his work. Just estimate when minimally/maximally work will be done, and description why short/long this time. No need in asking questions, for me.
As for stupid questions, there are different things when many customers and programmer supporting product, and when you develop just for one customer. In first situation, manager should talk to customers and aggregate info to programmer, in second - it depends on agreements between customer and your company. Customer can ask to be able to control work, and can just want result and dont bother tracking.
