Side note: It would probably be a good idea to delete this thread to avoid confusion, now that the original thread has been updated.

P.S. When you are attempting to post a reply on the original thread, do you see a "Go Advanced" button near the bottom under the reply box? That's what you would have to click to let you upload files to an existing thread (instead of going and creating a whole new one).
