This is my first suspension, this has never happened to me before. I was botting pretty heavily throughout the week. I just hit 80 in 4 days played time. Once i hit 80 and moved on to hyjal, i was disconnected and suspended. I am mainly looking for advice on what others have done to make sure that the suspension doesnt escelate into a permanant ban. I am well aware that botting could have led to this. What i am considering doing is calling the customer support and acting clueless but admitting to playing heavily, is this the right thing to do? I'm afraid if i dont respond to this then i am admitting to botting. Here is an email clip.

Account Name: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Account Action: 72 Hour Suspension
Reason for Action: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Unauthorized ***** Programs ("Hacks")

This suspension happened because one or more characters on this account were identified using an unauthorized ***** program, also known as a "hack.". These programs provide character benefits normally not achievable in the World of Warcraft. Such benefits include, but are not limited to, increased speed, teleportation, or running through walls/boundaries. Use of these unauthorized programs harm the game environment because they offer an unfair advantage over other players and superscede the intended limits of the game.

I have always left suspensions alone and got them back.
Other people might have had different experiences. Some say to call etc.

...

Oh and HAVE to say it before someone else does...don't bot an account you don't want to lose ;)

I have recently got 2 72 hour's, I just waited. It seems there are a lot of these recently.

I will probably stop botting for a couple months after this. I know not to bot an account i dont want to lose. i was just never caught. thought i could get away with anything. whats funny is last night i had a dream about getting banned. coincidence?

The thing is. If you let the 72 hours sit, its like saying "okay, im guilty".

In the forum of another wow bot following is said:

A temporary ban means you probably tripped some server side automated detection system. You got a temporary ban because their detection system was confident enough that you were probably up to no good, but there were other, bigger fish keeping the human folks who review this stuff occupied. They just never got around to looking at your case...

You can appeal a temporary ban, but that is very very dangerous. An appeal means a human WILL look at your activity logs. Make no mistake, they log everything. When they see you killed 26,000 of the same mob for 22 hours straight.. well, they're not stupid. Your tempban appeal will get upgraded to a permanent closure.

This is worth repeating. An appeal will cause human review of your activity. If it is obvious you were botting, you can make things much, much worse.

So better don't complain to avoid human review.

So this suspension will probably be logged if im correct. and i should probably lay low for a long time?

It's my advice to fight these. People are weird, and they probably have some weird stuff, but nothing 100%. Fighting it is unlikely to get your account perm banned as I've never heard of that happening.

open a ticket and claim ur not guilty m8, and u dunno what have been going on.. tell em u just got home and discovered ur account are locked or something... got 3 bans in a week unlocked within few hours..

Just talked to Blizz over the phone. Asking for a review will NEVER escalate your ban. Can't hurt.

Actuily it WILL do just that, if you where botting an investigation can cause them to do a perma ban instead of just a 72-hour.

As listed above, for a 72 hour ban, just let it go unless you really feel you can get away with the type of botting you were doing. When they pull the logs of what you were doing saying grinding from 78 - 80 in like 20 hours. That is very strange, not something that could not be done strange, but like WTF is this guy doing strange. This would lead them to look over the logs of how you leveled and such, if you have large areas of just grinding, you can just tell that account good bye. Take the 72 hour ban and be happy with it. Now a permaban = fight it. Not much else they can do to the account, just act stupid. Be like, whats a bot? I have no clue what this is talking about. Just play dumb, for some reason it seems to work wonders with the GM.

72hour = Take a brake and just cool it down a little
Perma = Fight that.
