I noticed that over the last 2 days I have been getting kicked off the bot with a lua Hax error every time. Yesterday when I was booted from game with the hax lua error, it happened several times and all I was doing was questing. I got banned the exact same time as another friend of mine got banned. I recieved a 72 hour ban.

This is the letter I recieved:

Account Action: 72 Hour Suspension
Reason for Action: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Unauthorized Cheat Programs ("Hacks")

This suspension happened because one or more characters on this account were identified using an unauthorized cheat program, also known as a "hack.". These programs provide character benefits normally not achievable in the World of Warcraft. Such benefits include, but are not limited to, increased speed, teleportation, or running through walls/boundaries. Use of these unauthorized programs harm the game environment because they offer an unfair advantage over other players and superscede the intended limits of the game.

Even if this is the result of account sharing, the account owner can still be held responsible for the penalty because of the impact it had on the game environment.

We've found the above behavior is many times directly related to groups responsible for compromising World of Warcraft accounts; we take these issues very seriously. To better understand our position against exploitative activity and the risks involved, please review this article: Impact of Buying Gold - Services - World of Warcraft

The exploitative activity that took place on this account violates the World of Warcraft Terms of Use. We ask you take a moment to review these terms at Blizzard Entertainment:Blizzard Legal Documentation. Note that additional Terms of Use violations may result in more severe actions against this account, up to and including permanent closure.

If you believe your account was compromised, please go to the following website https://us.battle.net/account/support/account-recovery.html. Our support staff will assist you as soon as possible. If you are unable to access your account due to the password being changed, please visit our Login Support site here: https://us.battle.net/account/support/password-reset.html

For any disputes of this action or further information on exploitive activity, please visit the Account Administration Overview and contact page here: Account Administration Overview - Battle.net Support

Update: I did get my account back, I wrote them and contested it. To clarify, I was the only one in the zone questing, nobody on in my guild either.
Thankfully this is the last character Im leveling (My 26th 85).

Also had a 72 hour, appealed and got the account back.

I've received the hax.lua error occasionally, when I close HB or relog onto a different character with HB still open.

I always assumed the interface/lua was client-side, though.

I might have recieved such an error. My wow had crashed a few times since using HB that was the reason for my picking up HBRelog. I was actually not botting during my disconnect/suspension i was doing some arena with a bud and got disconnected/suspended mid-match.

I only get the hax.lua when I use HB/GB and receive it after an unexpected disconnect when GB/HB lock up or the game locks up while running it. This is with no addons or UI modifications.
My guesses of being caught via a hax lua are pure speculation. I could have easily just been reported although nobody had been in the zone the few hours I was there questing. I am sure that no matter the reason I was definitely included in a ban wave. Both my friend and I got our accounts back after contesting the ban.

I have leveled up 25 toons to max level and working on a 26th, been using GB/HB for a few years. Only been caught once which is not bad at all if you ask me. :)

Bump, getting lua.hax errors have anything with these bans? Cuz I got some too :<
