48hr ban from another player using an addon that tracks other players

Hello community, I just wanted to let you all know, that some people have/created addons that track players nearby farming nodes.

Some players are using these addons to find potential botters, then literally fly up to track them and report their behavior, then asking for a GM to intervene.

So be warned when gatherering, there's butthurt other gatherer's trying to get you out of their competition.

do you know what addon is called? and how do you know they were using an addon, and not just following you?
 
The bot can be determined very easy and quickly, just look how he lands on node.
I think that he just wrote the report on you and that's all.

Addon for tracking bots... sounds like a joke. Tracking player in open world is a pain in the ass with all these zones, phases, cross-servers, etc. As player flies they will randomly appear, disappear, appear, disappear and so on.
 
the only plugin that is allive is one that looks for players around you and tries to stay away from em.
So when ur farming and theres people around your node, it stays away.
ur flying and people in / on your flight pad, it goes around em.

Theres no addon to track bots so he prolly just wrote a report.

People know how to spot a bot these days. Its not that hard.

The OP just wrote about addon, tracking nearby players, who are gathering nodes, just like one off the Carbonite package, with functions to track nearby hostile players, but OP never mentioned addon, tracking bots O_o.

I havent heard for such addons, so Im willing to see proof of such behaviours, even forum posts, threads or addon descriptions/links would be nice ... to see what we have against us :D
 
There is a program that you can use that acts like a radar to see other players etc around you. It's very detectable and very bannable.
 
Am I the only one who is confused about the "48 hour ban" in the title? I've never heard of a two day suspension.
 
two day suspensions come from either very rare mistakes or if you've been BG banned twice (first is 24 hours, then 48 hours), there are addons which report people who are afk but nothing on "real" bots since they're easy to spot in BG anyway.
 
"suspensions can range in duration from three hours to 14 days" straight from the Blizzard article, so you don't start calling this BS :D

I've actually been banned for 48 hours for flaming someone, 3 hours also which was pretty pointless :P
 
ooo i didnt think there'd be so many comments

but yeah 48hr ban surprised me too because i ahvent seen those here

its my fault because im guessing he followed me for a bit and then contacted a gm about me, i shoulda had logmeout or something for when a player is following

i feel weird about addons that stalk other players being allowed though... allowed to be private creations as well... seems like an unfair advantage.

they should be allowed, it's fair competition against botters.
 
if you are gathering and are not using rndbuddy then shame on you, hes got a feature in rndbuddy that once targeted for a certain time it will logg you out, i know you can be followed without being targeted, but its not as likely but yeah i guess maybe!!

This. or use logmeout plugin
 
Rnd detects followers and logs you out too. Flew around behind one of my toons and it logged out pretty quickly.
 
Even Carbonite can do this so this is really nothing new. zZzZzZz Boring and not really a news.
Do you really think people fly behind your for hours to check if you are botting?
Well must be people without live.
Use Logmeout and you are fine again. ^^

OP said he was banned, that in turn lead to a discussion on why they think he was banned.
