40m budget barb or already existing Monk Cannon?

I have been using DB for almost a week now. From Plevel 1 to 36 I have been using the "Monk Cannon Build" (80k buffed dps). This build is netting me <18M xph and <400K gph at A3 champ hunting at MP0. BTW, I dont have Leoric's Signet nor the Hellfire Ring, nor any GF item. Just a helm with a ruby.

Today I tried the WW build on a barbarian with trash gear + a Skorn with Life on Kill, and although it yields less xp and gold per hour, there seems to be much room for improvement. I am considering switching to a barbarian, but i know nothing about them. I need help!

My questions are as follows:

1. Should I be satisfied with the above stats for my Monk?
2. Can a barb with 40m budget for items do better?
3. If so, which skill build? (WW? Throw? HotA?)
4. What are the essential gear pieces for that build?
5. Should I try to farm Signet/Hellfire ring?
6. Any other general suggestions?

Those are pretty solid stats for your Monk at plvl 36. Once you reach a higher plvl you should start getting more gph and iph.
For your barb, you should not be using a WW build with a 2hander. The WW build is based off of crit chance and attack speed. I've tried various builds with my barb and I've found WW to be the fastest so far because sprint is almost always up. You must have a decent set of gear for it to work well though, if your DPS isn't high enough or your CC/AS is too low it won't work.
A rend build is generally the safest and cheapest if your gear isn't that good or you're trying to do a higher MP lvl. The throwing barb build is kind of quirky, some people like it but I don't feel like it has any advantages over rend or ww.
Farming Hellfire rings is only something you do for fun, there's pretty much zero profit involved. Farming signets isn't worth it in my opinion since your GPH and XPH will drop to almost nothing and the items you find will be mostly useless.

I'm currently running 2 barbs (WW) and 2 monks (Monk Cannon) so heres my view for what its worth.

Both Monks were geared for about 30 mil each from AH within 20 mins... didnt really bother looking for bargains. With the Skorns i know the guide says aim for 1.2k DPS, 150 dex and 2.5k life on kill but i found that its still a bit borderline with those stats. 1.35k dps with close to 300 dex, >3.5k life on kill and socket with gem works 10x better and reduces death to 0-1 p/h. rather than 80k buffed dps 85-90k dps seems to just get me over the edge on certain elite groups without dying.

Both WW barbs geared for about $110 mil each. again without really searching for bargains. 0 deaths p/h. They get a bit more gold and xp p/h also but not much difference in terms of items and legendaries found so far. Note the barbs are dual wielding not 2H. I'd say $40m is not enough.

I rate them almost same same in effectiveness. If the barb was 10/10 i'd say the monk build is 9/10. In terms of how much gold you will make the gearing cost is quite insignificant anyway. If your choice is monk canon or $40m WW barb then I'd say monk cannon.
