3 men team simple followers only give 35 bil xp? Am I doing things wrong?

Hey guys,
I just upgraded DM the other day to 3 keys, so i tried out my other 2 diablo account from friends.
My main is solo HoTa Barb.
Full ancient set with Pain enhancer, bane of trap and Taeguk lv 62
1.7m damage, 25m toughness.
I solo GR 55 with average of 30 bil/ hour using Leoric helm and red gem.
After setting up Simple follower with 2 followers:
- Follower 1: Helltooth WD ( Suwong)
900k damage, about 40m toughness. Esoterik, Multi guard rank 55
- Follower 2: Uliana 6 monk.
820k damage, 67m toughness. Esoterik, Pain enhancer, Trap rank 59.

I am only able to run GR 51 without dying, i can do up to 55 but cant avoid dying.
THE PROBLEM IS MY EXP GAIN WITH 3 MEN TEAM IS NO MORE THAN 35 bil/ hour.
I have seen people doing 150 bil- 250 bil with 4 men team. What did i do wrong here? I know my chars are still weak and gears will improve over time, but that is a significant gap.
Any pro with team set up please help me out?
Also, do i need to change my build? Like switch my monk to Static or cold EP and be a leader instead?

In full 4 parties, normally there are 2 o 3 XP characters. That's why the huge XP gain. 1 static monk, 1 support monk (XP), 1 support barb (XP) and 1 support crusader (XP). Also, it's not the same a 51 GR, than a 73 GR (there a user here that cleared a level 73 GR with demonbuddy, simplefollow and a 4 chars party).

Also, as you said, your followers are very low level. 900k and 820k dps is toooo low.

After digging around i began to understand, thank you for helping me out.
I just have another question. For higher rift, you do push for dps in supporters or the supports are just there for survival?
