This guide is no longer up to date or being supported by me. I have decided to switch over to the Crusader because the class is frankly amazing at botting. There are other DMO guides out there, please look them up for more current info!
Ok, there are a ton of questions about DMO here so I thought I would make a consolidated post. I'll be coming back to edit and optimize this thread (look at the date this post was edited to see if I made any updates). Mods, this is more of a trinity guide really, so not sure if this is the right forum, please move if you think there is a more useful spot for it.
What is the goal of this thread?
I'd like to optimize this build enough to get everyone who is at least paragon 800+ doing level 73-75 grifts consistently. Currently, my DMO does Grift 73 consistently (highest successful run was 76). Looking for community help to optimize further!
Is DMO the best Grift botting build?
For 70+ grifts, it's definitely up there. I can see DMO botting 80 at some point (not consistently, that's not possible). I know 78 has been done already. LoN Firebats WD is arguably better, but personally I see DMO as having higher potential due to it's massive damage reduction and simpler nature. It's also much easier to build a DMO Wizard than a LoN Firebats WD.
Current Trinity Bugs Impacting DMO:
There are some bugs currently facing DMO, I have outlined them here. Jubisman is currently working on them, no need to post.
This is the combat logic I've proposed, please let me know if you can think of something better:

The Botting Build Modifications:
Things to NOT do:
Some people prefer to totally ignore trash. The bot isn't intelligent enough to do this effectively in my opinion. I've tried it, and sometimes I end up on level 5 at the townstone at 85%. So in my view, trash acts as a buffer. You don't want to kill every single mob, but you do want to go after the clusters. I've found a bot focus of 70% elites and 30% trash to be most effective. This ratio will probably shift as I go for higher and higher grifts.
Caldesann's Despair:
This is very powerful. Use it. It will give you a massive head-start in intelligence. My WD is decked out in this and has 17k+ intelligence just sitting in town (still working on my Wiz). Int increases resistances, which is a very important defensive stat. You WANT as much int as you can get. Put CD on every ancient item with decent rolls. Your bot will level the gems for you. Personally, I don't use gems below 70 for CD.
Item List:
I use Crazy's item list.

Oh sorry I should have been more clear. It IS applying 5 stacks before casting orbit. The problem is it will sometimes cast 2 stacks on a target, move, 1 stack, move, 3 stacks, then go blow up somewhere else like a single monster. That's really inefficient, no? Ideally, I think the following logic might allocate orbit explosions better (which is critical in this build!):
IF in suitable cluster,
THEN output 5 stacks of arcane dynamo on closest live target and explode orbit, provided bot is in range of the central densest part of the cluster. Movement should be minimized if inside this area.
ELSE try once or twice to move to center of suitable cluster (too often the bot skirts around the outside)
No idea if that is realistic. What do you think? It works fine on single targets, it's just the group dynamic that needs some tweaking I think.
The Build:

The Botting Build Modifications:
- Swap Ice Armor for "Energy Armor - Force Armor" in skills
- Swap Teleport "Safe Passage" to "Calamity" in skills - Safe Passage is extremely bugged in trinity right now and the stun you get from calamity is better anyway (it triggers constantly). The 25% damage reduction isn't really necessary since you have a ton already.
- Swap Halo of Arlyse for Convention of Elements in Cube
- Swap Convention of Elements equipped ring for Unity (make sure you have an equipped templar with unity ring and a "follower cannot die" trinket)
- Swap Ancient Parthan Defenders equipped bracers for Ashnagarr’s Blood Bracer (to boost your energy armor)
Things to NOT do:
- Use unleashed on explosive blast, you should be using chain reaction to keep Orb of Infinite Depth procc'd at all times
- Think area damage isn't important - area damage will GREATLY speed up your trash killing ability past Grift 73 (I've seen people say it isn't important for bots... not true)

FAQ:
Mine isn't working?
Use this checklist:
- Have you verified that you are using the latest versions of trinity, demonbuddy, and adventurer?
- Do you have the exact right build posted above with all the essential items?
- Have you copied my trinity settings above exactly?
- Do you have sufficient damage output for Grift 70+? If not, try running level 65's until you do. (You need an ancient weapon and ancient orb at minimum.)
- Is your problem a known bug?
- If you are still having issues after all of this, make a post with a log of your run and state the problem.
